If you like games with a lot of collecting, community events and busy work, then Everafter Falls will be the game for you; it’s a heartwarming escape into a world where simplicity and friendship reign supreme. The blend of farming, fishing, and fighting, coupled with innovative mechanics like card-eating and supportive drones and your handy pet, creates a refreshing and engaging gameplay experience. Whether you’re playing solo or with a friend, Everafter Falls is a charming village and a place you’ll want to return to time and time again.
Trappist is playable as it is, and the developer is continuing to update the game and has plans for more colonisable planets and research. But I can’t help thinking that it should have been released on Early Access first while the dev improves the game through the EA phases. It has the promise of developing into a great game; Trappist has not quite reached that stage just yet, so I’d hold off on buying it for a while until it has had further development; instead, add it to your wishlist.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door overall story is fun and filled with plenty of characters and zany humour. Each chapter has its own story, making this one of Nintendo’s longest Mario adventures that feel fresh and never boring. The battles with the turn-based RPG system have aged well, staying simple enough for everyone of all ages in the family to enjoy. If you missed playing Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door when it first came out, you’re in for a treat with the Switch version. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is a classic Mario RPG, and now it’s a must-buy for the Nintendo Switch.
Baladins is a delightfully enjoyable game. Though I don’t think every gamer will enjoy all the backtracking and the rewinding of time, the storyline is fun. If you like turn-based roleplaying games that you can play with your friends, then give Baladins a try.
Overall, I’ve had a lot of fun with Fabledom. It can be a slow burner, and it takes a while to get going. That may not suit all players of the genre, but for me, it gives me an opportunity to watch the Fablings ambling around as they build their city, and I love the fairytale setting.
Imagine Earth is an enjoyable sci-fi strategy to play on the Switch. It also has a pretty simple economic system that is not too complex to get to grips with. Plus, the game offers high replay value, as you can try out the scenarios using different strategies, so there is lots of replayability for your cash. I can see myself returning often to play Imagine Earth on my Switch. If sci-fi strategy games are your thing, Imagine Earth is a game to consider purchasing and adding to your game library.
I don’t love The Lullaby of Life, but I do like it, and I did get quite attached to Bombo while playing the game. I enjoyed the music and how the game looks. But at times, it certainly was not as relaxing as the blurb on the Steam page would lead you to believe. However, if you have high dexterity and are quick off the mark when pressing the right buttons to send out the soundwaves, then The Lullaby of Life might be for you.
Paragon Pioneers 2 is an idle simulation ideal for patient players who enjoy making small changes and returning later to see the larger effects. However, I’m not a particularly patient person, and while I took delight upon returning to Paragon Pioneers 2, seeing that my little pioneers had been busy at work during the time I was absent, I’m not into idle gameplay. I much prefer to play a game and see the effects there and then. But for those players who enjoy idle gameplay, Paragon Pioneers 2 is definitely a game to try either on PC or mobile.
Overall, Storyblocks The King concept looked great on the Nintendo Switch page; unfortunately, playing it proved to be a frustrating affair. If you are interested in checking out Storyblocks The King, do yourself a favour and play the game on another format, as hopefully the controls will be much better
Tchia is a love story of the New Caledonia region and its people. The gameplay is fun and pretty satisfying, with many quests for the player to complete and collectables to find. The soul mechanic sets you up for some very weird and interesting solutions to puzzles or circumstances in Tchia, and it’s my favourite thing about the game. If exploring a beautiful island is your thing, too, you will enjoy playing this game.
Overall, Bounties of Babylon is a good game. While I enjoyed playing it for this review, dice games are not my go-to genre. However, I can see the game would be enjoyable for those who enjoy this type of game. For those players, I recommend you give Bounites of Babylon a roll of the die.
There are a lot of mechanics to discuss in Millennia, and there is too much to put into a review of the game. However, with plenty of depth on offer in Millennia it is sure to please any long-time fan of this genre, and it also doesn’t overwhelm you with options thrown at you all at once. I found Millennia to be a refreshing strategy game that is enjoyable to play, and I can see myself playing it for a good while to come.
Highwater gives off an eerie post-civilisation feel, so kudos to the developer for getting that point across to the player since it is set in a post-apocalyptic world. As for the gameplay, I have very mixed feelings about Highwater. Firstly, I think that the different elements of the gameplay don’t gel well together. The boat journeys were the most enjoyable part for me, especially at sunset when the sun was creeping down the sky; the artwork illustrated that well, whereas the rest of the gameplay left me feeling kind of indifferent.
Overall, it took around 30 to 40 minutes to finish Cat and Onion, and I completed it fully in one sitting. Though the game is short, you will experience a lot in that time, and you can’t miss the love the developer has poured into the development of the game. Cat and Onion is a lovely journey with cute characters and feel-good vibes.
Untied Penguin Kingdom is a middle-of-the-road simulation game for me. I understand the need to complete tasks to get the resources due to the environment in which the game is set. However, having to complete the same tasks over and over again each time you start a new game is not my idea of fun, especially since there isn’t a free-reign mode where you can play how you like and have freedom. So, for that reason, Untied Penguin Kingdom just scrapes through on an I like it score.
Overall, Snufkin Melody of Moominvalley offers a delightful and immersive journey tailor-made for fans of Moomin and anyone in search of a distinct gaming adventure. Although I did encounter a bug that halted my progress, it doesn’t overshadow the charm and creativity that Hyper Games has infused into this delightful exploration of Snufkin Melody of Moominvalley.
Despite its simplicity, Tricky Taps: Complete Edition has enough variety and a well-crafted design to provide a quick, enjoyable gaming experience. It’s a great game for those moments when you have a coffee or tea break and want something to pick up and play.
In Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story, there’s always a task to tackle, keeping gameplay engaging with constant goals and amusing conversations. Although it relies heavily on fetch quests, Bandle Tale’s progression layers and delightful dialogue guarantee it stays captivating and cosy throughout.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong’s simplicity makes it perfect for quick gaming sessions during quiet moments. Plus, with the new 2-Player mode, you can enjoy the fun with a friend. It’s well-designed, and the different mechanics and level themes keep it from getting boring. Even though it’s not trying to do too much, Mario vs. Donkey Kong is still a charming game that offers a break from more complicated puzzles, a throwback to simpler times and a joy to play.
The Lost Legends of Redwall: The Scout Anthology delivers an engaging adventure set in the world of Redwall. Despite minor issues, such as misleading optional quests and occasional technical glitches I encountered, the game’s storytelling has beautifully illustrated cutscenes and an enchanting soundtrack. While players prone to motion sickness should be cautious due to the camera positioning, overall, it should appeal to fans of the Redwall universe and newcomers alike.
