Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection gets off to a promising start on Switch with a decent port of Ninja Gaiden Sigma that performs well in both docked and handheld modes. However, as soon as you boot up parts two and three it's all downhill, with dynamic resolution resulting in a pixelated mess in places as the frame rate consistently struggles to keep up with the action. All we needed here was a solid, no-frills port and this collection would have been an instant recommendation. As things stand, it's a disappointing experience that needs patching ASAP and should be the last version you opt for if you've got the choice to play elsewhere.

Featuring two very good games and one fairly mediocre game in one package, Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection is well worth trying out, whether you missed out in the past or just want to slash up some enemies as Ryu Hayabusa all over again.

Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection brings a trio of Ryu Hayabusa's adventures to modern systems, and that in itself is worth celebrating. The quality of the individual games does vary a fair bit, though, with Sigma 2 the best of the bunch. However, bringing them together is highly skill-based combat that rewards real mastery, and it remains pretty unique among modern action titles. While not without their flaws, there's still plenty to love about these PS3-era slash-'em-ups

The Master Collection presents the best opportunity to try the trilogy if you haven't, although be warned that except for the 1st game the quality of the other experiences is fluctuating and some design decisions such as the camera are outdated by today's measures.

Ninja Gaiden: The Master Collection is a fascinatingly violent time capsule that shows off the best and the worst of Koei Tecmo's fan favourite shinobi. It's as barebones a collection as can be, packing all three games together with a sprinkling of DLC, but it's still a fine showcase of brutal difficulty and white-knuckle thrill power that is inimitable by anything else on the market. Just don't expect anything more than that.

Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection is a big, loud spectacle of a trilogy and absolutely deserves to be experienced by all fans of brutal action-adventure.

Ninja Gaiden is an amazing, trailblazing series that set new action game standards, but this collection offers nothing new for longtime fans. In fact, this bare-bones port lacks the original games' multiplayer modes.

Koei Tecmo could have used this opportunity to further strengthen the weak link beyond what it already did, but the first two games still stand so tall that it justifies the preservation altogether.

‎Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection allows us to relive Ryu Hayabusa's story like never before, with a number of better techniques than the genre in which it is located are greatly appreciated. However, the scarcity of novelties in terms of controls cause the return of 'the ninja' not to occur as spectacularly as the figure would claim.‎

An honest collection, with two timeless actions and a passable taillight. For lovers of the genre, the game is certainly worth the candle.

From that perspective, Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection is a solid pack with two good games and one OK game with little in the way of polish or improvements. It's not hard to negatively compare it to something like Mass Effect: Legendary Edition in terms of content and quality, but that doesn't change the value of the games within. If you like challenge and struggle or enjoy feeling like the coolest ninja on the block, Ninja Gaiden is a franchise well worth checking out. Just be careful not to throw your Switch across the room when you die for the gazillionth time.

A passable collection if not an ideal one, and for Xbox owners getting the originals is still the best option, but for everyone else, this is admittedly better than nothing.

Returning to the world of Ninja Gaiden has been a pleasure, and while it certainly wasn’t the unbeatable behemoth that I remember it being — mostly because my gamer power-level has increased — it still presents a wonderful balance of fun, difficulty, and a sense of reward.

Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection is a must-have collection for those who have never played one of the best action series. However, it is clear that many aspects have aged badly, such as the camera and graphics, and could have been polished in this collection. In that light, Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection offers only the bare minimum you would expect from a remaster.

Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection offers three high-adrenaline action games that are still splendid today. This is the only, partial redemption for a collection incapable of convincing, lazy in implementation and technically inconsistent, especially on Switch.

Ninja Gaiden Collection provides three very good games, but too bad we only have lazy ports here. It's almost the same games as the PS360 versions, and kind of expensive, too...

Ninja Gaiden: Master collection offers us one of the best trilogies of recent years in its most complete versions and loaded with content. Unfortunately, the presentation of the games is very poor and the way things have been done is worthy of the greatest reproach. Even so, they are games that are well worth playing and should be recommended if we are not very demanding with technical issues.

The best way to play Ninja Gaiden today, although it falls short of appeal beyond the joy of bringing the Hayabusa formula back to 4K 60 FPS on supported platforms.
