Critic Reviews for Lost Judgment: The Kaito Files
If you love the Judgment series, The Kaito Files DLC offers more of the same with enough of a little refresh in gameplay to keep it interesting, and while still offering the usual balance of humour and compelling storyline that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios has mastered. After all, not many games will have you wrestling in a hot tub with a guy in his underwear while on the hunt for a murderer. Though I would have liked to hit the streets of Yokohama with Kaito or pick up some side cases, it’s an enjoyable experience that left me wanting to spend more time with my favourite flashy-dressed bruiser.
Aside from the near total lack of side content, The Kaito Files has everything that you'd expect from a Yakuza-style experience. Its shorter length actually works in its favour, allowing for a well paced story that doesn't get caught up on overplayed plot points or filler missions. As RGG Studio's first crack at a proper expansion, it's a roaring success.
he Kaito Files offers a story that works, with an interesting, engaging, well-constructed plot that allows you to learn more about Kaito's character.

Even with a weaker fighting system, though, The Kaito Files is more than worth the purchase for any fan of the series. Fantastic writing, enjoyable characters, and a gripping narrative make this experience another highlight in the series, more than proving that Kaito is worthy of being a protagonist.
The Kaito Files delves into Takayuki Yagami's handyman shoulder, introducing very interesting revelations about Kaito's past and, above all, exhibited with great elegance. It is an additional chapter focused on brawls that, unfortunately, forces its protagonist to submit to some gameplay dynamics that marry poorly with his most violent and animalistic nature, as well as being made with a questionable level of care.

Kaito's solo adventure is a thrilling side story to Lost Judgment and explores a new side to Yagami's sidekick with a new, compelling storyline.
The Kaito Files is everything a DLC needs to be, bringing new elements to its combat, in addition to a very good story, which impacts the future of the franchise and justifies its existence. The only downside is its price and duration. If you're a fan of the base game, you'll really enjoy this expansion.
