The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak Reviews
Trails through Daybreak marks the first time Falcom takes a bet with its franchise, changing its combat system to a degree and some of its gameplay mechanics. The changes are all good for newcomers, which will find an ideal entry point here, but are not so for the longtime fans, who could dislike the action-focused shift and the decrease in the overall level of challenge.

In terms of story and characters, The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak is probably the strongest entry the franchise has had in a long while. It fixes a lot of long-running issues and manages to be self-contained and capable of standing on its own merits. The new combat system has potential but ends up feeling a tad one-note, and it's the only thing that isn't a full improvement over Reverie. On top of that, it's probably the best starting point for new players that doesn't require going back and starting with Trails in the Sky. If you're interested in the franchise, Trails Through Daybreak is a great place to start.
Legend of Heroes Trails Through Daybreak is a new chapter in the long running franchise, it is a very accessible and fun JRPG that will satisfy every fan of the genre if you can avert your eyes to the outdated graphics and animations

Trails Through Daybreak is a new starting point for a new, epic arc (with the second chapter already out in Japan). By the end of it, I was not only invested in the new characters and contribution to the Legend Of Heroes history that was being created through their actions, but I wanted to go back and replay all the rest of the games in this series all over again. More than a single game, The Legend of Heroes is an expansive project, and it’s inspiring every time I get to play one.
Van is a charming and vocal protagonist who gives as good as he gets, and rest assured, he isn't shy about giving a loving head patting when the opportunity arises. Those who have played earlier Trails games will enjoy the returning characters, mentions, and nods to earlier events and people, but even if you're an RPG player unfamiliar with the Trails games, you'll find plenty of reasons to sink your teeth into this latest one. It's no surprise that the hero of Daybreak has a proclivity towards indulging in cakes and pastries; he happens to star in one hell of a sweet adventure.
A dark, more mature story, a great new cast of characters, and much improved turn-based action make Trails through Daybreak a fine addition to the franchise that's accessible to fans and newcomers alike.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak is a darker and more interesting take on one of the best JRPG franchises of all time. The gameplay additions enrich the experience, but what really makes it so remarkable is the excellent cast and storytelling that lives up to the series' fame.

After almost a decade, the Trails series breathes new air with Trails through Daybreak. Between many hits and a few misses, the title marks a new chapter in the franchise, with a more mature story, a great cast and a discussion of extremely important issues in our society.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak is yet another demonstration of how much Nihon Falcom has worked on the series over the years. From being an extreme niche product to progressively wider audiences on the strength of irrepressible writing and progressively refined gameplay, Daybreak represents both a point of arrival and a new departure for the saga. On the one hand, it embodies the highest and fullest expression of the maturity achieved by the series, which, net of a modest technical compartment, will reward you with a great JRPG that is rich and layered narratively and ludically. On the other hand, the decision to shed some of the constraints of the past allows the title to be the best entry point to finally approach this saga, provided you get along with English. You will not regret it.

While Trails through Daybreak has an ambitious yet imperfect story, it offers captivating gameplay and exploration that still shapes an above-average experience in the end.
Trail Through Daybreak tries to innovate The Legend of Heroes series by adding components that make gameplay more frenetic without straying from its roots, which can help in a context such as JRPGs. The switch between action and turn-based combat thus feels very natural and has been well implemented by the developers. The story is very long and enjoyable, giving over 60 hours of gameplay for the main one alone. Aesthetically and sonically, the title does not disappoint.

Trails through Daybreak does what it needs to do to be a very entertaining new entry will all the action and spectacle needed to succeed. I think it certainly stumbles with some localization issues and a few too many menus for its core systems, but overall, I still rather enjoyed seeing this new era of Legend of Heroes unfold, even if its nowhere near my favorite.
Nihon Falcom continues to feed its endless franchises with titles that improve or maintain the level of the previous title. This is the case of The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak, another title for the Trails series that fans of the franchise and JRPGs in general should not miss.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak serves as an excellent introduction for new players and a warmly received return for those familiar with the series. The game enhances its combat system with new adjustments, resulting in a more dynamic and thrilling battle experience. While it may not achieve the pinnacle of the franchise, it lays the groundwork for a promising start.
Trails through Daybreak is a good introduction for the new saga of the trails series. While the new, unpolished hack n slash gameplay has a lot of flaws, the story and character are as good as ever and give us hope for a bright future

The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak makes the most of its fresh setting and wonderful cast to tell an enticing story that is a bit slow at times and offers familiar yet different combat.
Nihon Falcom not only met expectations, they completely blew them away. Trails Through Daybreak completely revitalizes the series with gameplay that feels fresh and new but still maintains the spirit that the franchise is known for.
