Tales of Berseria Remastered Reviews
Tales of Berseria Remastered is an odd duck. It's a barely necessary remastered version of an absolutely excellent game that PlayStation owners can already purchase for half the price. It's easily the best version of the game with some fantastic QoL improvements and all the DLC packed in at a much lower price than buying them separately. However, if you're already a longtime fan who already owns the game and has purchased the DLC, Remastered is probably not worth the extra cost. If you're a newcomer to the game and don't mind shelling out a little more for bells and whistles, Remastered is the version you should get.
Sometimes, certain games feel like an old friend you run into after many years — not so different that you don’t recognize them, yet not so unchanged that you think, “Well, I could’ve just experienced this back then.” Tales of Berseria Remastered captures exactly that feeling.

Tales of Berseria was a great entry in the series back when it originally released and it still is today. This is an excellent RPG to pick up if you're looking for a thoroughly entertaining story although the enhancements aren't anything to write home about. 🏴☠️
Ultimately, Tales of Berseria Remastered might not feel as essential to casual or returning fans, given its limited upgrades, which at times feel a little disappointing.
Man, this one hurt me a bit. I was really hoping I’d love this game more than I did. And it’s not like I hate it either! The characters and story in Tales of Berseria keep me extremely engaged, but the actual gameplay part annoyed me deeply for so long that I couldn’t fully forgive it. Is the game much more fun by using the exp bonuses and the option to just turn off encounters? Oh yes, tremendously, but I just can’t feel good about the solution being “just don’t play this part; it sucks” rather than some more positive changes. It’s a remaster, people, come on! It has been 10 years! If you have already played and enjoyed the original Tales of Berseria, this doesn’t have anything new to make it worth your while. If you are a new player like me, I’d never suggest playing the original over this version.
Tales of Berseria Remastered is a welcome remastering of one of the best chapters of the series, with some new features to appreciate it more, but not extremely necessary.

Tales of Berseria returns with a remastered version that, in many ways, feels more like a port than a true polish. Despite this, the numerous quality-of-life improvements still manage to make the experience smoother and more accessible, making this edition the ideal choice for those who have never had the chance to experience the original story. Although the update is fairly minimalist, the game retains a charm all its own that’s hard to resist.

Overall Tales of Berseria Remastered is one of the better Tales games in recent memory. If you have it on PS4, and have a PS5 that can play it, I would probably hold off, unless you really need the buttery smooth 60fps. If you don’t have the original, this is a great game to get started on.
Tales of Berseria Remastered brings back one of the darkest and most emotional entries in the franchise with welcome visual and gameplay improvements. Velvet Crowe’s revenge-driven journey remains as powerful and unforgettable as ever.

Tales of Berseria Remastered is a delightful release. It offers a compelling story, an enhanced gameplay experience thanks to various accessibility features, and a wealth of content in the form of integrated DLC

Tales of Berseria remains one of the deepest and most beautiful JRPG experiences thanks to its epic revenge story and its heterogeneous, vibrant cast of characters. Its fast and varied combat system provided a refreshing experience for a game from a long series. The Remaster version succeeded in technically polishing this experience, but raised a question about the necessity of its existence for those who experienced the original version. It is worth experiencing, but it did not offer any major modifications to the game.

Tales of Berseria Remastered fulfills its role without grand ambitions. It's a more complete and accessible version of a game that was already solid in its concept, especially by including all previously released additional content, from updates to DLCs. Still, it's hard to ignore the feeling that this relationship could have gone further. The technical improvements are welcome, but subtle, and have little impact on those who have already experienced the original version, especially on PC and PlayStation 4. In this sense, the remaster seems more relevant as an entry point for new players or for those who had the opportunity to experience the title on new platforms.

I didn't like any of the gameplay elements of Tales of Berseria Remastered, but its story, soundtrack, and characters captivated me so much that I could tolerate its bizarre combat system, repetitive levels, and clunky customization.

Tales of Berseria Remastered doesn’t bring many significant improvements over the original 2016 game, but it still features dynamic combat, an interesting world, charming characters, and a beautifully tragic story that I would recommend to JRPG and anime fans. I had a great time playing as the evil - or rather, good - Velvet, and I’m sure you will too.

Although this remaster might feel optional on other platforms, on the Xbox Series, *Tales of Berseria Remastered* is presented as an installment that can finally be experienced in its most complete form...

Tales of Berseria Remastered offers several new quality-of-life features that are great for new players but not necessary for longtime fans who have already experienced all the game has to offer.
Tales of Berseria is a JRPG with a strong story that keeps you hooked as a player. However, the remastered version feels unnecessary due to the lack of clear improvements in both gameplay and graphics. Nevertheless, the game is especially worth the money for new players.

Tales of Berseria has a great narrative that keeps the player engaged throughout the entire game. Furthermore, the remaster brings graphical improvements and runs perfectly well on the Nintendo Switch. For those who have never played any title in the series, this is a great entry point, especially since it's fully localized in Portuguese. Despite some combat issues, the game still delivers the fun you expect from a good JRPG.

Tales of Berseria Remastered brings back one of the most unique chapters in the franchise, featuring a fascinating story, memorable characters, and a truly compelling combat system. Given that the title is still one of the most captivating JRPGs in the recent history of the genre, it remains to be seen how successful the remastering process has been. From this point of view, Bandai Namco is following the same line already seen on previous occasions, combining subtle technical upgrades, the inclusion of released DLCs, and a wide range of quality of life improvements. Perhaps more could have been done to give Velvet Crowe's revenge a new memorable life. However, the title is and remains the best way to experience this great episode of a historic saga.

Tales of Berseria Remastered may not really add much to the base game, but it's still a fantastic JRPG that you'd be a fool to miss.
