Prey is a game that meshes together a variety of ideas into a game that rewards exploration and experimentation and provides players with a fun toolbox with which to do so.

Prey gives you all the tools you need, but allows you to decide how to get to your goal. The fear is constant, as is the joy from getting to safety. Despite a largely forgettable main story, I'll remember my own experience in Talos-1 for some time.

Prey is a first-person sci-fi shooter with plenty of powers and scary alien jump scares.

Prey is a game that's smart about almost every aspect of itself, and yet with that, so crucially modest. It doesn't yank the camera from you, doesn't force you to sit through cutscenes, doesn't demand you sit still and listen to its backstory. It's content to be itself and let you find it, which is a damned rare treat in this hobby. Even more amazingly, for all its array of abilities and powers, you can finish the game without touching them, perhaps even find a narrative rationale for doing so.

Prey often feels like mash-up of some of the best sci-fi survival horror games of yesteryear and Arkane's previous work. And it is. But it also a title with some wildly unique ideas, an incredibly thick and unnerving atmosphere, and an exemplary soundtrack.

Arkane Studios' Prey is a master class in the immersive simulation, and perhaps its breakout title for this generation of consoles.

Arkane Studios has another hit on their hands in the form of Prey. Some minor bugs aside, this is a horror fan's dream come true. Prey may appear to be a first-person shooter on the surface, but there's an RPG hidden just underneath its shiny graphics. You have the freedom to approach Prey in any way you desire, and it's unlikely any two players will have the same experience. With an intriguing story, impressive ambiance, and challenging gameplay, Prey is a must-own game that has found a unique take on psychological horror in game form.

Prey's sound design and soundtrack are some of the best to come from a game this year. Unfortunately, a lot of the aspects surrounding that hamper the potential set up from the game's impressive opening hour. The combat is a source of frustration, and the load times neuter exploration. But if you're able to look past that, Prey can provide some thrills.

Bethesda's reimagining of the popular shooting game combines the best of Bioshock, Dead Space and Dishonored but does little extra with them

Prey might not be the prettiest game, but it's among the most atmospheric. Arkane Studios has proven itself time and time again to be comprised of world-class world builders. Prey is no different. If you're a fan of Dead Space, Deus Ex, or Bioshock, you simply have to buy this game.

PREY continues the hot streak of big releases in 2017. While not flawless, this title offers an incredible sci-fi story about paranoia and the self, while sprinkling Arkane's always excellent gameplay on top. While things like the psychic powers fail to justify being in the game mechanically, the creative weapons and multiple gameplay approaches help to make the exploration of Talos-I really shine. Between the rewards for searching through the environments, and the fact that the game is a visual treat, a venture through this deteriorating Cold War-era space station is definitely worth your time.

Prey offers to explore an interesting world of the space station with a very rich background, but occasionally prevent you to find out its mysterious vastness. Characters without depth, awkward inventory, a huge number of backtracking and too strong and annoying enemies, deprive you of the pleasure from the examine of environment. Unlike BioShock Infinite, Prey's main plot has no sharp emotions, shocking discoveries or memorable scenes. The game is absolutely bland and trying to copy the ideas from other projects, except for the first spacewalk or thirty minutes from the start. But it has something magical about it, forcing you to explore each area and solve the next side mission. If not for that strange charm, we would hardly spent as much time untangling the mysteries of the space station and its unfortunate crew.

Prey is a great interactive artwork, comprised of a huge, non-linear adventure where the player is truly king, a deep and inspired sci-fi story. Probably the best title ever produced by Arkane Studios, and certainly a must-have for every gamer.

If you prefer games that allow you to run and gun through a linear story then this isn't for you, but if you like to experience a game at your own pace and in your own way, you can't go wrong with Prey.

Prey gets a lot of things right, but it has a few technical hiccups and some balance issues that keep it from being a truly stellar experience. Let's hope we see some improvements in the next Prey.
