Critic Reviews for Omensight

An enticing (if sometimes uneven) action-adventure that will surprise you with an intriguing mystery and surprisingly deep characters.

Omensight is a fun fantasy romp starring fuzzy animal things. It's endearing in a way that, considering its flaws, it has no right to be. With a little more polish, this could have been a great game. As things stand now, it's still a pretty damn good one. The story kept me invested, and I found myself smiling more often than not. If you can see past the rough spots, you're in for a treat.

Omensight scratches so many itches for me. I love murder mystery games and branching, time-manipulated narratives so much.

When all is said and done, Omensight ends up being a dazzling piece of work, a terrific action RPG game with fast and fun combat that works perfectly alongside a well-crafted and impressive mystery that's guaranteed to keep you addicted until you've figured everything out.

If you're partial to a bit of hack ‘n' slashing and fancy something a little different to the norm, you'll find Omensight to be an enjoyable addition to the Switch's catalogue of ports.

Much like Stories: Path of Destinies before it, Omensight is a title worth admiring for its bold storytelling approach and unique take on the action RPG genre. Spearhead Games had a lot of ambition in bringing together a tale of mystery and suspense and combining it with investigation elements, though much like The Harbinger's time travel abilities, there might have been some aspects of the gameplay and structure in Omensight worth rewriting.

I really like the story that Omensight sets out to tell, but I really wish that it was more fun to actually play. The characters and learning about their motivations made it worth seeing the game to its conclusion, but a finicky fixed camera and somewhat lacking gameplay made my playthrough less satisfying than it should have been.

Omensight is an amazing twist on the "Groundhog Day" style storyline. Some thinking and planning is necessary, but The Witch makes this easier. The gameplay is fast, fluid, and very fun. It may seem repetitive to some, but slowly learning and altering the day is part of the journey.
