Critic Reviews for Fairune Collection
Fairune Collection is a deliciously big slice of brain-teasing RPG fun with a sprinkle of shmup action on top. None of the games will require a huge amount of time to complete, solving many of its puzzles feels truly rewarding and both graphics and sound will take you back to a simpler time in this industry. If you were a fan of the original outings, you will certainly like this ‘upgrade' but if you are venturing into the realm of Fairune for the first time, heads up: you might have just discovered the perfect lazy summer afternoon game of the year.
Fairune Collection is casual puzzle-solving fun. It's a good game to pick up and go on the Nintendo Switch.
In the end the problem with the Fairune Collection comes from the fact the series is a short lived one and yet it still took its time to find its stride.
Fairune Collection is a very nice release on Nintendo Switch that for only $9.99 offers four games you can play at home or on the go for 10+ hours before you can complete all of them. Fairune and its sequel look a lot better on Nintendo Switch than they did on the Nintendo 3DS, so if you're a fan of the series this is a must-have on Nintendo's hybrid console.
No deep challenge exists in any of the four games, but the in-game collections and achievements add replay value. Online leaderboards compare your best completion time or score (for Fairune Blast only) against other players, so speed-running fans might want to look into Fairune Collection, too. Without further ado, cue that Zelda treasure chest sound effect!.
Not having played any of the Fairune games before this collection was a pleasant surprise. The look and feel are wonderfully classic, the pacing is pretty mellow and allows you to simply enjoy the experience, and the puzzles can be quite clever. The lack of real combat can be taken as a plus or a minus, depending on what kind of experience you’re looking for, but as a variation on the norm I didn’t mind it at all. Through the lens of more of a puzzle game it all plays out nicely and will give you a handful of hours of enjoyment for a budget-friendly price.
