Dying Light Gets New Hellraid DLC This Summer

Games discussed:

Dying Light has been a huge success for Techland, and now it's being used as a platform to deliver something of a crossover event with a canceled game. Dying Light will receive Hellraid DLC later in 2020.

Hellraid was once meant to be the next game from Techland. Set in a fantasy universe of monsters and magic, it never came to fruition after the developers announced that it would "suspend" development on the game not long after Dying Light arrived on the, at that time, new platforms. Dying Light itself was once envisioned as a cross-gen title before its ambitions proved too costly for the Xbox 360 and PS3, so it seems five years ago, Techland was in a state of upheaval and major changes.

Now, though, Dying Light has springboarded the studio into a position of strength where the zombie RPG has spawned years of DLC, a multiplayer spinoff, and an upcoming sequel that seems to gain the appreciation of anyone who sees or plays a demo at trade shows. Naturally, Techland finds Dying Light to be the perfect platform to keep Hellraid in the world in some minor way.

No release date or price has yet been revealed but we should know those details relatively soon as the DLC is planned for this summer. It'll be interesting to see if this DLC becomes a second attempt at bringing Hellraid to the world in earnest, though as of now Techland says it has two new projects in the works, and neither appears to be Hellraid. One is, of course, Dying Light 2, while the other is an unnannounced new IP in development at the studio's second office in Warsaw, Poland.
