A new version of Tetris Effect is coming to Xbox consoles later this year.
Tetris Effect will release this year on Xbox platforms later this year as Tetris Effect: Connected, according to the game's website. The game will be similar to the original form of the title, though it will make a number of additions. The biggest additions are the inclusion of multiplayer modes. Modes include Zone Battle, which shakes up 1v1 gameplay through the time-stopping Zone mechanic. There is also the Connected mode, which has three players literally connect their Tetris playfields together in order to play as one, as they work to take down a series of increasingly difficult bosses.
Tetris Effect: Connected will be a timed exclusive. The expanded version of the game will come to the PlayStation 4 and PC through the Epic Games Store in the summer of 2021. The game will also support smart delivery. This means that those who get the game on the Xbox One can upgrade to the Series X version for free. Connected will also be a part of Xbox Game Pass, allowing Xbox and PC gamers play the game through their subscription. The game will support cross-platform play between Xbox consoles.
Tetris Effect first released for the PlayStation 4 in 2018. The game is very similar to the original Tetris, though it sports new visuals and sound effects. The music, backgrounds, and even the Tetriminos themselves, pulse and change as the player advances. The game has over 30 different stages with their own music, sound effects, and graphical style that evolve as gamers play through them. Tetris Effect also has a range of modes, including Marathon, Sprint, and Ultra mode.
Tetris Effect is available now for the PlayStation 4. Tetris Effect: Connected will release for Xbox One and Xbox Series X, as well as PC through the Xbox Game Pass, this holiday season.
