The First Immortals Fenyx Rising DLC Is Coming This Week

After what seemed like a successful launch, Immortals Fenyx Rising is getting its first of three major expansions with the A New God DLC. It was a few weeks ago when Ubisoft detailed the Immortals Fenyx Rising post-launch schedule, but at the time, no release dates were given to the new content players could expect. But now we know it's just a matter of days before Immortals gets its first paid content add-on.

The expansion will take players to Olympos Palace, home to the pantheon of the Greek Gods, where they can take on a series of challenges to qualify to sit among the deities. Along the way, players will be able to unlock four new abilities as well as a new gear set with a bonus that allows players to jump additional times. Currently the game already offers a double-jump, which players can creatively make a triple-jump with use of an Are's Wrath attack at the end, so even more jumping will be interesting to see.

The DLC comes as part of three major expansions for Immortals in its Season Pass. A New God will be followed by Myths of the Eastern Realm, perhaps the most exciting of the trio. This story expansion will star a new hero, Ku, who takes on not Greek mythology, but Chinese in a totally new setting unlike anything the game has done before.

The final piece of the post-launch season will be called The Lost Gods. While A New God focuses on challenges and Myths of the Eastern Realm adds to the story more than the others, The Lost Gods reinvents the game by changing the camera perspective to an isometric top-down brawler starring a new hero named Ash. This too will include a new island setting, meaning each DLC piece gives players new areas to explore, while the latter two introduce new playable heroes.

A New God will launch this Thursday, January 28, as part of the Season Pass or the game's Gold Edition. As always, any reviews that come in this week can be found here on OpenCritic. If you were a fan of the base game, come back later this week to find out how critics have got on with the first DLC for Immortals.
