It seems that a Pikmin AR game is currently in the works.
Nintendo and developer Niantic have announced that they are collaborating on a Pikmin AR title. In a press release, it was revealed that the two companies are planning to release the game later this year. This will be the first title that Niantic and Nintendo will be working on a title together. The game will feature gameplay activities designed to encourage more walking, and make the activity more enjoyable. This will be the first title to be developed by Niantic Tokyo Studio, Niantic's development studio that was established in April of 2018.
"As we continue to expand our games portfolio, it was a natural next step to team up with Nintendo," stated CEO of Niantic John Hanke. "We're looking forward to shaping the future of AR together, bringing Nintendo's beloved game characters to life for mobile game players around the world."

"Based on the theme of making walking fun, our mission is to provide people a new experience that's different from traditional games. For those who do not know, Niantic is the developer behind games such as Pokémon GO, Ingress, and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. They are a leading AR development company, and have established a global community of hundreds of millions of players across their library of titles.
In the press release announcing the Pikmin AR title, it was stated that gamers can visit this site for updates on the upcoming title, including information for pre-registration. The Pikmin title is expected to release later in 2021.
