Members of The Sims community have been having a rough year. This week, EA has delisted The Sims Mobile from both iOS and Android app stores ahead of its 2026 shutdown, following last month's report of EA being purchased by a private equity firm. Add to that the loss of The Sims 5 in favor of Project Rene, and many have been left unsure what the future holds for this beloved franchise.
On October 24, EA sent out a general thank-you letter to The Sims community (via X). While the response on X was mostly that of confusion, the Reddit community for The Sims has read the note as desperate and inconsequential. Since yesterday, the thread critiquing EA's thank-you letter has already garnered 3,000 upvotes and nearly 400 comments. The post has since been locked, but not before many fans expressed their dissatisfaction with both the message and EA as a whole.
The top comment comes from user Kiribaku, who notes that "This reads like they're panicking." Reddit user Kingchik replied, stating, "I’m sure their PR team is," and speculating that "they know it’s unpopular and have no control over it."
