Another casting for the Borderlands film has been announced.
It seems that the upcoming Borderlands movie has found its Atlas. According to Deadline, Edgar Ramirez will be playing Atlas. Ramirez will be joining an all-star cast, which includes Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jack Black.
"What an incredible honor to have an actor of Edgar's caliber, talent, and charisma playing opposite Cate Blanchett and this remarkable cast," stated director Eli Roth. "Atlas has to be a truly magnetic personality, someone with charisma and charm but that air of menace underneath it all. I've been a fan of Edgar's since his early performances and he continues to amaze me with each dramatic turn. We want to create something wild, fun, and very different from anything they've seen from Edgar before. I am so, so excited to work with him."
"The force of Edgar's presence and the strength of his talent as an actor make him an ideal choice to play Atlas, a character who controls the fate of so many in the Borderlands universe," states president of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Nathan Kahane. "He's the perfect addition to this perfect cast."
A synopsis for the Borderlands film was also revealed. In the film, Lilith (Blanchett) returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of Atlas. Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team on her journey: Roland (Hart), a former mercenary; Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), a pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Florian Munteanu), Tina's musclebound protector; Tannis (Curtis), a scientist with a loose grip on sanity; and Claptrap (Black), a persistently annoying robot. This team must battle against the dangers of Pandora to find and protect the missing girl who may be the wielder of an unimaginable power. While the fate of the universe may be in the hands of this unlikely team, they will fight for something else: each other.
The most recent Borderlands title, Borderlands 3, is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia.
