Customizable companions are coming to The Elder Scrolls Online.
On the PlayStation Blog, it was announced that The Elder Scrolls Online will be getting a Companions System. The new system will allow players to recruit two party members to travel with them. These Companions are designed to perform the game's combat roles, such as damage, healing, and tanking. While the Companions will not be as strong as the player, they will still be effective combat allies in battle. Companions will also gain their own experience and level up. When they level up, their base stats will improve and they will learn new abilities. In addition, as players travel around with their Companions, their actions will impact their rapport with their active Companion. Rapport levels will go up and down depending on the activities that the players engages in, with those activities being seen either negatively or positively by their Companion.
Just like their characters, players will be able to customize many aspects of their Companions. Gamers will be able to choose what combat abilities that their Companions will utilize in battle, what gear they will wear, and tailor their look by applying costumes or outfit styles. With Companions, players will not travel alone, and will have an easier time tackling challenges that might have seemed out of reach previously.
When the Companion System launches, there will be two Companions available: Mirri Elendis and Bastian Hallix. Each character will have their own personality and unique characteristics. Bastian has a strong sense of duty and honor, but is also a little socially awkward and values friendship. Mirri is quick-witted and clever, but can also be a bit headstrong and impatient. As players adventure with their Companions, they will discover what makes them special, including their very different backgrounds.
The Elder Scrolls Online is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Companions System will release on June 8th.
