Another character has been casted for the upcoming The Last of Us HBO series.
It has been announced that another casting has been made for the upcoming HBO adaptation of The Last of Us. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Merle Dandridge will be taking on the role of Marlene. Dandridge originally voiced the character in both The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II.
Dandridge is the latest actor to join the HBO adaptation of the games. Earlier this year it was announced that The Mandalorian's Pedro Pascal will be taking on the role of Joel. Bella Ramsey will be playing Ellie. Both actors were featured on another HBO series, Game of Thrones. The Last of Us will be directed by Russian filmmaker Kantemir Balagov, who is known for directing the dramas Closeness and Beanpole. Balagov earned numerous rewards for both films. The series will be co-executive produced by Chernobyl's Craig Mazin and Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann, who wrote and directed both The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II. Druckmann will be penning the series' script.
It is unknown at the moment how much of the video game series will make its way into HBO's show, or how closely the show will adapt the games. It is expected that the HBO series will tell the events of the first game, though there has been word that aspects of the second title will make their way into the TV series. As there is a four year gap between The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II, it would be interesting to see how the show will handle the time skip.
The Last of Us does not have a premier date as of now. The Last of Us Part II is available now for the PlayStation 4.
