Cities: Skylines 2's console release is being pushed back, as Paradox reveals that it will not meet its October 2024 launch window. No new date has been shared, as the port is now delayed indefinitely.
As spotted by Insider Gaming, this delay was announced earlier this afternoon in the Paradox forum. In the announcement, the developer says that the console release of Cities: Skylines 2 is yet to meet "stability and performance targets", preventing it from being ready to launch this October as originally planned.
"While we are making slow but steady progress, there are still unresolved issues impacting the game in ways that harm the player experience we want to deliver," the statement reads. "We expect to receive a new RC [a possible release build of the game], which will undergo a thorough review in August.
"This evaluation will determine whether we can begin the submission process and provide a solid release date, or if further issues need to be addressed."
So, in other words, we could have a new release window shared with us next month, assuming these tests go well. If not, we'll be in for an even longer wait.
