Persona 4 turned 16 this week. Still revered as one of the greatest JRPGs of all time, the title is an important part of the Persona lineage. The game received a spike in first-time players, including myself, when Golden was re-released on PC in 2020 and on consoles last year and continues to have a rabid fanbase.
Beneath that cheery exterior lie many moments that'll leave you devastated.
To celebrate the game's 16th anniversary, a new mod has been released designed to overhaul Persona 4 Golden's visuals, making it look more like the original PS2 game.
The mod, created by modder BrawlerAce, states that "Golden's release came with significant changes to the game's visual identity." Calling the original game's art design "really nice", Brawler set out on the mission to "fully restore the original P4 visuals for all fields, leaving not a single field present in the original P4 with its stock P4G look."
