DICE reveals plans for Battlefield 2042 once the seasonal model comes to an end, with new events, content, and rewards set to arrive over the rest of the year. Although the launch of Battlefield 2042 suffered from plenty of difficulties, the game has enjoyed a resurgence over the past couple of years as many of the big issues were eventually addressed and new content added. The game has continued to add more content and seasons well beyond what DICE's original plan was.
In fact, the game's continued turn around really hit a fever pitch with the arrival of Season 6: Dark Creations, as Battlefield 2042 smashed its concurrent players record on Steam originally set back in 2021. Coupled with a well-timed free to play weekend, Battlefield 2042 continued to thrive, pushing DICE to create a seventh and final season for the first-person shooter. With Season 7 now approaching its end point, DICE confirmed plans to keep new content flowing into the game, hoping to maintain that momentum into the future.
Battlefield 2042 adds voice chat moderation in the latest update to ensure a positive gaming environment free of Positive Play Charter violations.
