Yacht Games has given a release date for the final Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove DLC, Showdown and King of Cards.
Yacht Games has revealed that the final bits of DLC for Treasure Trove will release on December 10th. King of Cards follows King Knight, and will include the card game Jaustus. Also being released is Shovel Knight Showdown. Anyone who already owns Treasure Trove will receive the new content for free. The DLC can be bought separately. 3DS and Vita owners will not be able to receive the new content, as it will not be available on those platforms.
The upcoming DLC was not the only thing Shovel Knight related to receive a December 10th release date. Also releasing is an amiibo 3-pack, which will include figures of Plague Knight, Specter Knight, and King Knight. The Shovel Knight: Gold Edition amiibo will release then as well. Xbox One and Nintendo Switch owners will be able to pick up Treasure Trove physically on December 10th. PlayStation 4 owners will have to wait, however, as the physical edition for that console has been delayed until early 2020 due to "unforeseen manufacturing issues."
King of Cards serves as a prequel to the original Shovel Knight story, and has player taking control of King Knight. Showdown is a 2-D battler that allows gamers to take each other on in one-on-one duels, four-player free-for-alls, and more. Both bits of DLC were originally meant to release in April of this year, but were pushed back to allow Yacht Games the time to polish them to the same quality as other Shovel Knight games.
Though this is the final content release for Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, it is not the end of Shovel Knight. A new title in the franchise, Shovel Knight Dig, is in development at the moment. Dig is a downward digging arcade title, that has players take on ever-changing levels. Shovel Knight Dig does not have a release date at the moment.
