ntkm98 007 First Light Review

May 31, 2026
Personally, I enjoyed my entire time with it and don’t regret the price I paid for it. The story started out slow, but once the ball started to roll… it got more engaging, interesting and a few twists I didn’t predict. I won't say what etc. as I do not wish to spoil and would rather have people enjoy it for themselfes. For me I enjoyed the story and direction it took. The gameplay felt smooth, fun and interesting with how you would do each mission. More stealth like? Sure. Pacifist? Yup. Aggressive style? From my experience, also yes. Each location you visit is and feels different, how you want to approach it etc. making it not feel boring or too repetitive. The soundtrack IO Interactive made here was done well & didn’t feel out of place or ruin my experience/enjoyment of First Light. The iconic 007 theme is also there but was changed slightly so it works with the music style and direction IO Interactive went for. Played through the entire game on mostly high settings, 1440p with a few tweaks & DLSS on performance. 45-60 fps through the entire game & didn’t notice Performance issues or any major bugs that couldn’t be fixed with a quick "quit to menu and reload" type of situation. The only very annoying problem was a random FPS crash that could happen at any time or in any situation where it dropped down to 7-12fps and stayed like that. It's easily fixed with a complete game restart, but this specific issue could just be a hardware related problem on my end. I always loved to watch & enjoy back in the day with my father (grew up with Connery movies on VHS, but I enjoyed the Brosnan era more) and this game hit all the right spots for me, the banter, jokes etc. were all great. For me it 100% felt like a Bond movie that isn’t a one-off story but set up for the next entry/sequel for a deeper story. Especially now as 007 has earned his numbers. I cannot wait for what IOI will come up with for the sequel, or what their future is with the 007 license. Overall score would be 7 or 8 out of 10 for me. It might be different for other people or how they would rate it, but that’s what I would rate it from a scale of 1 to 10. If the initial €70 EUR price tag is too much for you, simply wait for a sale later down the line. One tiny bit of info: It was played with a Ryzen 7 5800XT, 32gb of RAM and the RTX 2070s - 8GB VRAM and performance, as mentioned above was smooth 95% of the time on my end.
