Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated definitely shows its age in this "remake". It has a weirdly structured story, a few poor boss fights, some bizarre bugs, and some other elements that could've used some proper touch-ups. That said, it still delivers on being a fun and easily accessible platformer that captures the heart and soul of the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon.
Even though Disintegration has very enjoyable gunplay and the crew is very easy and useful to utilize, this doesn't give a pass to the inadequate graphics, the lack of unique enemies, the bugs, an unsatisfying ending, and many other elements of this game that with more time, could have been improved drastically. The game has a very cool concept of combining the first-person shooter genre with a real-time strategy game, but unfortunately lacks the necessity of an entertaining game to back the concept.
Playing Maneater, I personally had a lot of fun going around playing as a huge shark controlling the ocean despite being repetitive. The repetitiveness along with the lack of a worthwhile story did lessen my enjoyment with the game. In the end, though, I did enjoy the game greatly with its stunning visuals and fun game mechanics.
Despite those disappointments and Square's lack of appropriate messaging that this is only Part 1 of a larger story, I still largely enjoyed my time with Final Fantasy VII Remake. The exciting combat system, the ridiculously amazing soundtrack and a Midgar that was a joy to look at and run through all combined to give me a fuzzy feeling inside I only ever got from playing the original.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is easily the most personal and customizable game in the franchise.
Even though it's just the campaign, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is a healthy dose of nostalgia.
While enjoyable and filled with plenty to enjoy, Resident Evil 3 unfortunately feels like an uneven mishmash of horror and action. It wants to do two things at once and while it does them in a passable way, it doesn't always feel like it reaches its full potential especially when following in the footsteps of Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Doom Eternal's issues feel like a victim of ambition. They wanted to double down on the balls to the walls craziness and instead of saying no to some ideas, it feels like they crammed absolutely everything into the game. While Eternal manages to still be very fun and a worthy entry in this legendary franchise, it needs to realize there is such a thing as too much of a good thing sometimes.
By delivering the thrills of being part of "The Show" through energetic, immersive gameplay and a plethora of varying content, MLB the Show 20 is another great entry in the annual series. Despite some modes not getting the love they deserve and some additions not adding a ton of value to the experience, Sony San Diego still continues to prove they're more than deserving of the MLB license.
It might be a little late to the party on the Switch, but given its modest asking price and lengthy campaign with a lot of replayability, this is one game that deserves to be a part of your Switch library.
Dreams is not only a technical wonder that is borderline sorcery but it's a revolutionary PS4 exclusive. It's a wholesome space to create, share, and play where people are constantly setting new standards, pushing new limits, and blowing your mind. Media Molecule has made something that should've been impossible work and work very well.Simply put, Dreams makes you believe in the magic of video games.
Aside from the ridiculous lack of an autosave feature, I absolutely adored my time with this bright and colorful game. If I wasn't admiring the gorgeous aesthetics, I was bopping to the catchy soundtrack. And on top of that, the combat system proved to fun enough to keep me engaged from start to finish.
Patapon 2 is still best-in-class when it comes to the rhythm-action genre but there are some areas where it doesn't hold up, specifically in its clarity and technical prowess. However, if you're looking for an incredibly engaging and euphoric game to help tide you over until 2020's big hitters start to drop, you can't go wrong with this remaster of this beloved PSP title.
Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a game that wanted to be so much but in that desire ended up being so little. A repetitive cycle of slowly walking around the jungle avoiding predators while visiting landmarks that all look the same and cranking out babies that know just a little bit more than their parents. It's a game that achieved nothing but mediocracy despite its legendary pedigree.
In the end, even though I experienced some technical issues due to my PC's CPU, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Detroit: Become Human, and after only little fiddling in the settings, I managed to find an acceptable compromise for great gaming sessions. Thanks to the brilliant presentation on all fronts and enthralling narrative, I stopped noticing the few hiccups here and there and lost myself in a not-so-futuristic tale of very personal stakes and development.

If you're a fan of the franchise and felt betrayed by Payback in 2017, then Need for Speed Heat is worth your time. With a packed roster of over 120 cars, a well-designed and gorgeous city to explore and race in, and a huge emphasis on customization, it's undeniably Ghost Games' apology letter for 2017's mess of a game.
Deep gameplay at an unseen fidelity and attention to detail cement Red Dead Redemption 2 as Rockstar's newest genre-defining adventure. In spite of technical issues at launch, the PC version reigns supreme as the decisive way to experience the Wild West epic at uncapped framerates, obscene resolutions and incredible visuals.
When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is operating at its peak, it's performing at a level the series or genre hasn't seen in over a decade. When Infinity Ward lets their many flaws show, it's painfully disheartening and only makes the potential for greatness feel that much richer. Perhaps this blinding contrast in their strengths and weaknesses will allow the team to come back and execute a sequel that will hit all of its marks without fail.
The Outer Worlds cements itself as an incredibly memorable RPG. Obsidian has built a vibrant and freeing world that is fresh, exciting, and ripe with galactic potential that will hopefully continue being explored in sequels. Even with its shortcomings, its easy to see Obsidian's newest RPG bordering on instant classic status.
