While the story and soundtrack aren’t something many will consider to be amazing, they are still serviceable and can be enjoyable. There's plenty of fun to be had within the game, and if you’re a fan of the genre looking for a new game to play, this could scratch that itch.

Somehow, the Lunar games still hold up in 2025. While not perfect, they're still well-written and highly engaging JRPG classics that have stood the test of time thanks to mechanics and features that were ahead of their time. For the most part, the graphical enhancements have only improved the quality of the experience, with only some of the upscaling techniques getting in the way of the enjoyment.

Atomfall falls flat in its attempts to homage and recreate the magic of other apocalyptic survival games. The storytelling and level design might keep players interested enough to make it through the main story, but the lack of depth in gameplay and role-playing makes it hard to imagine anyone wanting to spend their time playing Atomfall over any other successful title in the genre.
