Counter-Strike: Global Offensive had one of its biggest months ever in December 2018 after the launch of its free-to-play version despite angsty haters predicting the game's demise. Between the F2P version and the addition of the Danger Zone battle royale mode, the game hit a new high with over 20 million players taking part. This is the highest amount of unique players ever recorded in the game's history and doubles the November 2018 count.
Steam Charts also records some pretty epic concurrent numbers too. On average, nearly 400,000 players were online at any given moment, with a high of almost 750,000 during one epic session.
If you already owned CS:GO prior to the move to F2P, and if you haven't logged in lately, you may want to as your account has been upgraded to Prime which adds some sweet benefits including unique weapon skins, special matchmaking and much more. Head to the Steam page to learn more.
