The Outer Worlds is just a week away from its October 25 launch, so of course it's time for a launch trailer. The 90 second video highlights the game's way of continuing developer Obsidian Entertainment's tradition of player choice, humor, and a wide array of characters as they've done before with beloved RPGs such as Fallout: New Vegas and South Park: The Stick of Truth.

Also newly revealed is Twitch Plays The Outer Worlds, which will let the ever-tumultuous Twitch chat steer the game in any direction they choose. That stream will take place on October 22, and it will mark the first ever Twitch Plays for a pre-release game. The exact time of day has not yet been announced, but Obsidian promises a firmer event schedule soon.

If you're planning on playing The Outer Worlds right as it's available, you'll want to know the varying unlock times for each platform. Obsidian has shared two global maps, one for PC players and one for consoles, to detail precisely when the game will become playable in your time zone.

The Outer Worlds is published by Private Division, Take-Two's third publishing label alongside Rockstar and 2K, which publishes small- to mid-sized games. Private Division is recently responsible for games such as Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey and Kerbal Space Program: Enhanced Edition. The Outer Worlds is Private Division's biggest game since its founding back in December 2017.

The game has also received a strong marketing push from Microsoft as they are now the parent company of Obsidian following a buyout last December. Going forward, Microsoft will have exclusive publishing rights to The Outer Worlds IP, so while this first game has become something of a joint effort between Take-Two and Microsoft, the Xbox team has teased that they'd like to do more with the franchise should the first game become a success.
