New maps and a new multiplayer mode are being released for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The maps and mode will be released today, and will be free to all players.
The two maps are called Shoot House and Krovnik Farmhouse. Shoot House is a 6v6 map, and aims to put players into close-quarters combat. The Krovnik Farmhouse will only be available in the Ground War game mode. The maps will be available for all platforms.
The new mode will be called Hardpoint, The mode has not been a part of a Call of Duty title since 2016's Infinite Warfare. In the mode, players are tasked to capture a hardpoint and must defend it in order to receive points. It is similar to Headquarters, except respawns are enabled and do not disable when holding the point.
The upcoming content releasing for free comes from Activision's new structure of all maps being available for all players across all platforms without being locked behind a season pass or as premium content. The company has also eliminated loot boxes for Modern Warfare, instead moving to a Battle Pass system. A battle pass system allows players to earn rewards by playing the game and completing objectives. The more objectives that gamers complete, the further they progress and the more content they unlock.
Earlier this week, a Redditor named Senescallo datamined Modern Warfare. He discovered the existence of nearly forty maps and 23 new game modes. The nearly forty maps included some from previous games, and even mentioned Krovnik. Like the maps, the game modes were a mix of old and new. It should be noted, however, that not everything found within this leak will be released as future DLC. We will have to wait and see what gets released for Modern Warfare and what does not.
