There's pretty much nothing wrong with Astro Bot. Sure, its story is a rather shallow excuse to bounce from one place to another, but the lack of a script is compensated by the fun and crazy surprises. Team Asobi's creation is a versatile, beautiful and, above all, a great platformer for all ages.

Action doesn't usually integrate well to point-and-click titles, but The Drifter is an exception. It holds its own with both its calm sections and its hectic moments. It feels like an interactive audiobook that you don't want to put down. A captivating summer paperback.

After an update or two, Loco Motive can be recommended to everyone who likes detective stories, adventure games and humor. It's just the right length, a masterpiece that stimulates the brain and laughs.

In the era of difficult and challenging games, it's sometimes great to experience something serenely beautiful as a counterbalance. Botany Manor grows flowers with a puzzle-like approach, and it does not offer anything very surprising, but it does everything it promises with admirable professionalism.

Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley respects the source material wonderfully, but as a video game it has to remember the limits set by the age limit. Now the end result offers admirable things to do with both in mind, but I would still really like a versatile adventure designed for an older target audience, where the game mechanics and puzzles would not have been chewed open already.

The Roottrees are Dead focuses on solving the family tree of the rich Roottree family in an interesting and addictive way. The detective-like concept challenges in many ways and rewards attentiveness, quick wits and good reasoning skills.

Investigating old stories and cases is fascinating. The cases are complex tangles, where the crime is clear, but finding the right culprit requires precision and reasoning. Unfortunately, the trials sometimes require too much understanding of the game developers' logic than the events of the crime itself, which is frustrating. Nevertheless The Darkest Files offers a fascinating peek into humanity's darkest moments and the aftermath - in the form of a puzzle game.

Lushfoil Photography Sim is, as its name suggests, a simulator that requires dedication and enjoyment of a peaceful rhythm. With small updates, the title can be improved even more, but even now it offers an excellent basis for enjoying photography and visiting world-famous landscapes in search of peace. Of course, it is not a substitute for a proper photography course, but it may give an impetus to a new or forgotten hobby. The game is not for everyone, but for its target audience it is almost a perfect match.

Without a Dawn feels down-to-earth, even small-scale compared to Jesse Makkonen's previous games, but at the same time it's a truly heavy experience. The visual novel takes you straight into darkness, both literally and figuratively.

Mario Kart World is an excellent addition to the series – beautiful, fun and imaginative – but it could have been even better, more diverse and worthy of its name. The open world is under used, and Nintendo continues with the familiar and safe line of starting races from the menu and ending them in the menu. Despite its flaws, it's pure fun, whether you're playing alone or with friends and family. And thanks to the new console hardware, it looks better than ever!

Voyager exudes warmth, joy and freshness. The detail and colour of the world are particularly impressive: even the friends' home island is decorated with many different space-themed gadgets and inventions, which tell the story of the main characters' love for the universe. In addition to beautiful landscapes, the game offers a down-to-earth story of friendship and shared experiences.

Miniatures is a beautiful, but way too short experience. On an emotional level, it is difficult to identify with the memories, because the script does not reveal the background story at all, and the player only gets to experience four different fairy-tale situations. The audiovisual implementation is impressive, especially the different drawing and animation styles deserve nothing but praise. But when the lid of the digital memory box closes, Miniatures is also quickly forgotten.

Super Mario Party Jamboree is packed with content, but still doesn't seem to offer much new. If the concept is familiar from previous years, then everything feels quite familiar from the beginning. The gameplay is fun, even hilarious at times, but the title needs the right people around it to reach its full potential - and even then, certain game modes suffer from repetition and sameness.

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead tells an original story set in the Quite Place universe, which offers about eight hours of survival horror. The game has its moments, but too often it stumbles over its own concept. Sneaking quietly through each level just isn't fun, and in many places the super-accurate monsters will strike without warning.

The horror title, which only lasts for a couple of hours, offers a few fun scares to the younger audience and especially to the Five Nights at Freddy's fan base, but I wasn't very excited about the survival elements. Running between places and avoiding the same Monster was more frustrating than entertaining.

- Arco
Sep 7, 2024

Set in the Wild West, Arco offers really challenging but entertaining action. Your own choices alter the story impressively, although in the end revenge is at the center of everything. The charming pixel graphics combined with the truly versatile content guarantees an original title that you will enjoy playing for a long time.

The art design and style are top notch, so it's a shame the rest of the content can't live up to them. Cartoonish Schim is by no means a bad game, but its gameplay and offerings do not support the genius concept.

Indika tells an arresting story about humanity and the influence of religion on a sensitive individual. Nothing in life is black and white, and fortunately many things have changed in the world of the 21st century. Still, several of the game's themes are still relevant. It's a shame that a few sections break the arc of the otherwise intact story and take away the best edge from the thought-provoking title.

Previously released on Steam Early Access, The Outlast Trials offers exactly what you can expect from the series. Sick, agonizing horror. This time the story has been left behind, but the gameplay and atmosphere make up for the lack of a script. With a group of friends, The Outlast Trials is guaranteed entertainment for a few weeks - and it also works alone, as long as you set yourself up correctly.

Despite the long development work, the studio should have trimmed the length of the story a bit and invested in polishing. If everything isn't right under the hood, it doesn't matter how great the story, style or game design is. Airhead entertains, but also frustrates at the same time - and that's never a good thing.
