5 / 10.0 - Exoprimal
Jul 18, 2023

With so many incredible releases over the past few years, Exoprimal feels like an odd misfire from Capcom. Its combat and graphics are good, but the live service elements, PvEvP focus, and more detract from the experience.

Final Transmission is the proper "ending" for The Callisto Protocol, and while it closes Jacob Lee's story, the overall execution and content leave a lot to be desired.

5 / 10.0 - Stray Blade
Apr 25, 2023

Stray Blade has promise and could be improved with more polish and balance changes. However, the flawed combat, story-telling, progression and lead character often bring down the experience.

5 / 10.0 - Ravenbound
Mar 30, 2023

Ravenbound has the potential to be something good, if not great. However, it needs some serious overhauls and improvements to even start down that path.

MX vs ATV Legends could have been a decent arcade-style, sim-lite racer. Whatever appeal could be found in mastering jumps and customizing vehicles is beset by numerous issues. It's not grossly offensive but you're better off investing time in just about any other racer.

Despite some interesting ideas, Someday You'll Return is much less than the sum of its parts. It's not unplayable or a buggy mess but fails to really conjure any kind of intrigue or dread despite its attempts.

The Bard's Tale 4 has some positives and a whole lot of potential but it's also dragged down by a number of design and technical issues. Hopefully, a revamp and optimization helps it realize the full extent of its charm.

Warmind is Destiny 2 at its very core - grandiose and beautiful but ultimately hollow and insignificant with a plot that's there just so it doesn't get fined. It may have some post-game stuff but there's too much repetition and bad world-building to truly get invested.

5 / 10.0 - Extinction
Apr 10, 2018

When Extinction presents its large ogre titans, you get an inkling of what could have been. Instead, randomization and procedural generation rule the core gameplay and feel to really liven up what's a generally below average story, combat and world.

Fear Effect Sedna is vapid and vain, like a B-movie with a bit of gorgeous cinematography. Its gameplay falters miserably and even with the unmistakable atmosphere of the old games, Sedna just isn't enjoyable to sit through.

5 / 10.0 - Rise & Shine
Jan 19, 2017

Rise and Shine's awesome 2D art-style and references can't help the uneven shooting that pervades its shoddy gameplay.

The Division's Underground is the polar opposite of Diablo 3's Reaper of Souls. It exposes the game's snail-slow progression and endless grind while still presenting the Dark Zone as having the best rewards. New players will probably enjoy the new content with the base game but it's a toss-up for the hardcore.

A MOBA with an identity crisis or an RTS with too little to offer? Champions of Anteria strikes an odd balance that doesn't quite gel and isn't helped by its numerous problems.

After significant in-roads over the past year, Destiny feels like its regressed with Rise of Iron. This would have been a great time for exceptional story missions and replayable content that wasn't completely frustrating. For its price, Rise of Iron should have offered a lot more and taken more risks.

5 / 10.0 - Shadwen
May 27, 2016

Shadwen makes no bones about copying from other games. However, with the lack of compelling story-telling and gameplay, it fails to even accommodate interesting mechanics that other games handle better.

Might & Magic Heroes 7 may not the series' lowest point but it's a low point all the same. Even with proper attention given to eradicating bugs, it fails to capture the magic of the franchise's best while offering a compelling experience to turn-based strategy fans.

Like Left 4 Dead without the undead heart or Vermintide without the variety and hooks, Space Hulk Deathwing will satisfy only the most die-hard of Warhammer 40K fans. And even then they shouldn't expect much.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires doesn't want to innovate but it fails to provide long-time veterans with anything truly new and exciting. Even casual players will eventually be bored with the utter repetitiveness of combat.
