Dark Souls 2on the PS4 is as close to perfect as any game I've played this year. The game is beautiful and the mechanics are easy. The only thing that ever got to me was when I'd end up wandering around, trying to find the way to move forward. But I'm pretty sure that was intentional on From Software's part.

The story is excellent, characters are intriguing, and the game looks better than I'm used to seeing from Telltale Games.

8 / 10.0 - Rocket League
Mar 3, 2016

Rocket League made a lot of waves when it was first released on the PS4. Considering this Xbox One version has some add-ons packed in, it is, at the very least just as good if not just a touch better.

Although still fun, there is no denying that this is still largely a carbon copy of the original.

Season one of Game of Thrones is a decent experience but all the problems that plague other Telltale games, including clunky combat functions are there along with a bitter taste in wrapping up the finale. The story leading up to that bitter taste though, is quite fun.

The game doesn't quite live up to other similar games in the genre, but it's worth the time and energy to check out if you're a fan of these type of games.

6.5 / 10.0 - Tower of Guns
Apr 16, 2015

Tower of Guns isn't a bad game and it certainly doesn't bill itself as anything more than what it is. A "lunchbreak FPS"is indeed an apropos descriptor. Still, it doesn't bring enough new concepts to the table to really wow players.

6.5 / 10.0 - Magicka 2

The game has some rather fun elements but there isn't enough game to really deserve a higher grade. Being able to play alongside your friends is fun enough, but even that doesn't seem like a big enough perk.

3 / 5.0 - #killallzombies
Aug 16, 2016

When looking at #KillAllZombies as nothing but a time waster, the game stands up as "ok." If you have 10 or 15 minutes to spare and want to play a video game but don't have time to really become immersed into a game's world, there are worse choices out there. The problem is, the complete lack of story and lack of maps makes this title feel pretty shallow.

6 / 10.0 - White Night
Mar 30, 2015

The game brings something we haven't seen all that much, but it doesn't bring it in a way that makes you want to play the game hour after hour. When taken in small doses, White Night can actually bring a couple of scares and jumps but not enough of it to be among the best on the market.

The game is plenty fun if you have a few minutes to kill, but this isn't going to replace any number of other MOBAs that are already on the market.

5.5 / 10.0 - Blackguards 2

This still feels like an Alpha or a Beta version that needs to be fleshed out a bit more before it's release. The problem is, it has been released.

Republique first surfaced as an iOS game and the mechanics involved in this new PS4 version seem like the developer did a straight port, rather than take the time to sharpen anything other than the graphics.
