10 / 10 - INSIDE
Jul 13, 2018

Playdead's Inside is a masterpiece from beginning to end, and its Switch port is as good as you could hope for. It's another must-play title on Nintendo's hybrid, and is unlike anything I've ever played before.

I believe this is quite easily the best Smash game of all time.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on PC performs admirably. While it doesn't quite offer the slew of visual options in the Spider-man Remastered PC port, there's still enough here to tinker with to get the best balance between performance and visual fidelity. Ultimately, this is the best way to play both A Thief's End and The Lost Legacy.

This year's FIFA represents a big change for the long-running series. The core gameplay is fun, The Journey is great, and the improvements across the board all shine to showcase a football game that is absolutely worth playing, whether you're a diehard fan or not.

9 / 10.0 - FIFA 18
Sep 29, 2017

FIFA 18's new additions and modes make it the most compelling FIFA experience to date, and the franchise continues to demonstrate why it's the best football game in the business. Minor complaints aside, FIFA 18 is the biggest and most welcoming football game to date.

Dragon Quest Builders is fantastic, marred only by a high price point and some performance issues in handheld mode. Mixing in a great story and RPG elements seen from the mainline series with fun building mechanics makes for an enthralling experience, whether you're playing handheld or docked.

Far Cry 5 is an absolute blast from beginning to end, chock full of things to do and involve yourself in. The narrative is interesting, and everything you do in Hope County feels meaningful in some way or another — making for an experience that feels as rewarding as it does enjoyable.

Skyrim is exactly the kind of game that demonstrates the power of the Switch and what it wants to be. It’s a huge open-world, console-quality adventure you can with you anywhere. The port is fantastic, too, and the Switch-specific additions appreciated. Newcomer or not, Skyrim is a classic deserving of a revisit on Nintendo Switch.

The World Ends With You Final Remix is fantastic. A unique ARPG packed with a brilliant story, fun gameplay, and a fascinating premise, everything about it screams instant classic. Don't sit out on this one, especially if you can get around the initially jarring control options.

9 / 10.0 - FIFA 22
Sep 27, 2021

FIFA 22 is the best FIFA game in years. HyperMotion pushes the action along, with a renewed focus on Career Mode more than welcome. It's a more refined, well-developed package this time around, and I'm excited to see where the series is headed in the future.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is a pleasant surprise. While it's lacking in any major offering for those wanting a campaign to play through, everything else is refined and iterated on in meaningful ways. Blackout is a blast, traditional multiplayer is as good as it's been in years, and Zombies is insanity in all the right ways.

Even with its abstract and convoluted single-player campaign, Black Ops III is one of the best Call of Duty packages in years thanks to excellent refinement of the series' multiplayer, and the return of Treyarch's well-loved zombies mode.

The Following is an excellent expansion by any measure, combining a fascinating narrative and enjoyable gameplay into a great piece of content for fans of the original game. It's a shame parkour takes a back seat, but running zombies over in the buggy is an attractive alternative.

It's not without its issues, but Battlefield 2042 is off to a fantastic start for DICE's beloved series. All-Out Warfare modes are immersive, Hazard Zone is enjoyable while Battlefield Portal steals the show. There's a lot to love here, and I'm excited to see where the game goes.
