It instantly feels familiar, but adds to the Kirby formula by adding a number of unique and interesting scenarios, through both abilities as well as the 3DS hardware. The learning curve is easy enough for any novice to pick up, and the charm and colorful graphics are easy on the eyes. It's a wonderful platformer that is easy to recommend for anyone looking for a fun time on the 3DS.
Squids Odyssey is tough after the first few levels, especially if characters aren't leveled up properly. But that's fine; it never reaches to a frustrating level. Overall, it's a charming game that, at its core, is actually very deep in customization and gameplay. I wish leveling up was more automated, but these are minor qualms compared to the overall experience.
But while it lasts, Ittle Dew is a fun experience. It's not as deep as a Zelda game, but it has charm that some more recent Zelda games seem to lack at times. It's a clever little romp to play around for a few hours, and it's a fine way to spend a couple of days trekking through dungeons and finding new cards and pieces of paper.
SteamWorld Dig is a highly recommended game for those who enjoy platformers with an interesting and unique experience.

Costume Quest 2 has a lot to like, especially with its fun gameplay and witty, clever story. It isn't a particularly long title, but the five hours I spent with it was a blast. Some framerate troubles persist here and there, and the trick-or-treat aspect can get redundant after a while, but the faults I had with the game are minimal compared to the overall experience. It's definitely a game that is not only a treat, but won't rot out your teeth after finishing it.
M., except for the steep difficulty curve. It's definitely worth a try, but the immense challenge made it far less enjoyable for me.
It's a fun, old-school game that brings back fun memories of similar NES games. Disabling Miiverse screenshots is pretty lame, and sometimes the game's difficulty is a bit much, but those are just minor problems. Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures is another fun retro-inspired title that's definitely worth a look if you're looking for a challenging platformer on the eShop.
Funk of Titans is a game that kept my interest for a while, but ultimately it fails to deliver much beyond a few hours of play. The game is easy to play and get into, but there's not much variation in gameplay.
The world of Don't Starve is an intriguing one. The haunting graphics and music create a grim, Burton-esque atmosphere that wraps around the whole package rather nicely. The gameplay is fun and kept me interested for days. Don't Starve doesn't hold your hand, and it can be difficult, but if you can look past that, this game is one of the most unique experiences on the Wii U. Just be sure to light a fire at night. They come rather quickly in the dark…
If you've played a Dr. Mario game, you're not missing a bunch here. But regardless, it's a nice addition to the series.
While it lacks in certain places when it comes to presentation, the ambiance makes up for it. The Bridge is different than most puzzlers on the Wii U eShop, but that, along with its emphasis on gameplay, is what makes it stand out the most.
It's also very nice to see a dead town turn into a thriving community before your very eyes; I just didn't expect to see it in about six hours. The most disheartening part of the game, though, are the NPCs who barely seem to exist in this world beyond saying "I like apples, please make me an apple house". While the charm of the series is fully represented here, the wit and deeper experiences of the franchise are not, and that leaves me feeling like the game overall is just a shallow title in a series that can do a lot more.
The characters and story is easy to get into, and the chapter hangs on an interesting note that sets the basis for the rest of the chapters. The voice acting is really well done, and is very faithful to the source material. It's a bit easier than other Telltale games out there and rather quick to finish, but the experience I've had with the game so far is a very enjoyable one.
Mighty No. 9 isn't a bad game, but it's generic in gameplay quality and suffers from technical issues that hamper the experience. If you wanted a brand new 2D platforming experience in the vein of the old Mega Man games, then this is probably something worth your time. Just don't expect anything more beyond that, and be ready to restart your Wii U in case of a bug or two.
It doesn’t take itself seriously and that’s a major part of the fun. It isn’t a blow away awesome experience, but it’s a nice, simple game that doesn’t take that long to beat. With good replay value, a pretty neat endless mode and a charming aesthetic, Kusakari is an easy recommendation for those looking for something to just pick up and play.
It’s certainly a long game, and that can be daunting to many who just want a pick -up -and -play adventure. It also doesn’t change or revolutionize the RPG formula, but I would argue that it didn’t need to -; its simplicity is one of its best attributes. If you can put the time and effort into it, you’ll find that Dragon Quest VII is a charming, wonderful game that is full of heart - something that, in many ways, only a Dragon Quest game can accomplish.
Tedium aside, I enjoyed my time with Dragon Ball Fusions. The game’s battle system is pretty enjoyable, and the story is a nice change of pace from normal Dragon Ball games that just parrot stories from the various sagas. It’s nothing revolutionary, and there are certainly some problems here and there, but Dragon Ball Fusions is a fun game that takes its creative license to create an enjoyable experience.
When it comes to Super Bomberman R, don’t expect any frills, bells, or whistles. This is a standard edition of a Bomberman experience, with a decent enough story mode and a pretty fun online experience whenever the connection was smooth. Nothing about this game reinvents the franchise, but hey -- as someone who has wanted a new entry in the Bomberman series for years, this game definitely fits the bill.
King of Fighters '98 is one of the better fighters you'll find on the Switch right now. It's large roster and vibrant graphics brought me into the game, and its simple, intuitive gameplay gives you a lot to work with. There will probably be better fighting experiences for the Switch in the future, but right now King of Fighters can take its throne as one of the top fighters on the console..
