Unfortunately, I just don't see how Mario Party is supposed to be enjoyable playing solo on a handheld when there isn't even a fully fleshed out board games to play on. It's just a series of 1min mini-games that award you 1-3 stars feeling very much like this should have been a mobile game.

6.5 / 10.0 - Chicken Wiggle
Sep 23, 2017

To bring it all together, Chicken Wiggle definitely feels part of the Mutant Mudds and Xeodrifter family but more like a little brother that hasn't fully grown up yet.

8 / 10.0 - Has Been Heroes
Apr 10, 2017

The roguelike genre is a game genre I've never bothered to explore. There was just never a game that caught my eye. Admittedly, Has-Been Heroes was no exception. The trailers didn't stir much interest in me and my initial demo of the game turned me off even more because of a control scheme I felt was confusing at the time. Now, with over 10 hours of gameplay under my belt I have to admit that Has-Been Heroes has become one of my most recommended titles for the Switch.

6.5 / 10.0 - 1-2-Switch
Mar 2, 2017

"Hey let's go play that game where you milk a cow while staring deep into my eyes." seems to be the type of dialogue Nintendo wants to create with their Switch launch game, 1-2-Switch.  It's a quirky, party style game that is clearly meant to draw in a more mainstream audience to Nintendo's new console akin to what Wii Sports once did.  Could this be the next game that will be at every party in 2017 as Guitar Hero did back in the late 2000s? Probably not.

8 / 10.0 - Star Fox Zero
Apr 20, 2016

Overall, I loved the experience Star Fox Zero provided. I felt my skills improve every time I ran a new mission and I still get cravings to just go back into the game for the feeling it offers of flying and shooting down enemies. It's extremely disappointing that there isn't more content to offer above its 20 levels as the Gameplay is incredibly fun for those who take the time to master it.

Overall Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright is a great game. The main campaign took me just under 20 hours to complete and that was rushing it without taking the time to dabble in the challenges, fully upgrade my castle, and develop character relationships further. Add on the endless amount of battles you can have with your friends and you can get a lot of value from this game. The gameplay, presentation and soundtrack are excellent for the 3DS. While I wish the story had more twists and that the main character had more depth, Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright is fantastic package with a lot to offer.

While Snoopy's Grand Adventure welcomed me to a promising experience, the overall package did not deliver due to offering little sense of challenge or purpose.

7 / 10.0 - Typoman
Nov 16, 2015

In closing, Typoman does offer a fresh idea and experience to the puzzle-platforming genre. It succeeds in striking a dark, cold and lonely atmosphere that even made me feel uncomfortable at times thanks to its visuals and audio. Players who love puzzles will be rewarded with stimulating and fulfilling challenges but may struggle with the sections that demand high precision platforming and timing. With a bit more polish to the difficulty curve, cheap deaths and controls I would love to see Typoman return in another adventure.

Understandably Triforce Heroes was designed for 3-player play and the fact that Nintendo still managed to deliver a single player mode is quite welcomed.  However, traditional fans of the series going into Triforce Heroes expecting a single player experience as satisfying as past games will find themselves disappointed. The game isn't meant to be a traditional Zelda experience, it's a fresh new formula designed for those on the go or who are seeking a more social experience with the Zelda franchise. If you're looking for some fun and hectic gaming moments with your friends then Triforce Heroes along with its clever puzzles, fun visuals and beautiful soundtrack is sure to please.  For those interested in the game because of its Zelda association just be prepared for a less fulfilling experience than you're used to.

As an overall package Adventures of Pip delivers a fun and satisfying platforming adventure. The visuals are charming and beautiful to look at.  The soundtrack alone is worth a listen at the least as each track perfectly captures the level's atmosphere and the overall sense of adventure.  Adventures of Pip may not be a game that will shake up the gaming industry but it also doesn't need to.  It's a solid platforming adventure with a fun storyline that introduces some fresh ideas worth trying out.

7 / 10.0 - Tengami

In closing if you're looking for a fun and exciting game then look elsewhere, Tengami is for those looking for a deeper spiritual experience. The title is an artistic masterpiece to experience but offers very little gameplay.

9 / 10.0 - The Swapper
Nov 6, 2014

When you first enter the world of The Swapper, you won\'t really understand much aside that you\'re in space. That sense of mystery and wonder at what this game is really about will be with you throughout most of the game as you slowly piece together its intriguing story. Paired with absolutely satisfying puzzle elements you\'ll surely be hooked until the story\'s climax.

The last decade saw the rise of popular rhythm games such as Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero. With that craze now long dead the rhythm game genre is attaching itself to other gaming genres. KickBeat – Special Edition is one of these games which strives to straddle the line between the beat\'em up and rhythm genre and strikes just the right chord in its execution. Zen Studios has put together a package that\'s both visually appealing and absolutely fun to play.
