Eric Weichhart's Reviews

An enthusiast gamer, university student, and big lover of puzzle, platformer, strategy and action games. I may not be the most hardcore gamer you will find, but I'm the happiest one.

Maybe Stick It To The Man is just a simple platformer with only slightly challenging puzzle elements that can be finished in a couple of hours, but thanks to its quantity and quality of humor and jokes, to me it was one of the best eShop experiences I've played on my Wii U.

Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure offers an entertaining experience for puzzle enthusiasts; however, if you already own Dr. Luigi or want to experience the old NES gameplay, you may want to skip this latest entry.

8.5 / 10.0 - Nihilumbra
Aug 8, 2015

Nihilumbra has finally released after a delay of almost one year due to technical issues with the Wii U port, and it was worth the wait. The game tells the story of Born, a blob that wants to escape from the void to the world, but there is a problem: the void wants you back. What makes the story more interesting is that a voice will be narrating the story, helping you to progress while including a few elements that make the story stronger.

8 / 10.0 - Extreme Exorcism
Sep 28, 2015

It is difficult to get across just what Extreme Exorcism is; the mix of different genres makes it hard to explain the basics. Perhaps the best explanation is that it plays like an arcade version of a brawl game, yet is controlled like a platformer game with shooting elements. It is quite complex to explain, yet so easy to grasp.

7.5 / 10.0 - Stella Glow
Nov 13, 2015

Stella Glow is a good strategy game for the 3DS that I can easily recommend for those whose enjoy the genre or are fans of the game's developer. However, it is far from a perfect experience. The frequent use of cliches, the lack of speed, and few difficulty options alongside other flaws keep Imageepoch's latest work from being a memorable experience.

4.5 / 10.0 - Pokemon Picross
Dec 3, 2015

If you love Picross but don't want to spend over $32 for the full experience, check the Picross e series which are from the same developer. Each of the six titles cost $5.99, and you will have a bigger and better experience for around the same price.

6.5 / 10.0 - Project X Zone 2
Apr 2, 2016

Project X Zone 2 does a great job improving on almost every element from the previous game. The problem is that they also made the game easier; this removed any strategy needed, and so the experience has become rather dull. It is admirable that they made so many improvements, but with the total lack of challenge, it was all for naught.

8 / 10.0 - The Bridge
Apr 4, 2016

The Bridge is without doubt a brilliant idea that features clever puzzles and beautiful artwork. It is without doubt a great addition to the Wii U library, and a must have for puzzle lovers – though it may be quite frustrating for those not experienced in the genre.

It should not be a surprise by now that licensed games are often released for younger audiences in order to milk the franchise, and are most of the time developed with a low budget that results in a cheap experience. As someone who played some of these games during my childhood, I was hoping to have a nice experience with Monster High New Ghoul in School despite being 19 years old, but this title was not an exception to that rule.

5 / 10.0 - Exile's End
Nov 22, 2016

Exile’s End is not a game you should avoid, but with the many quality games on eShop, it makes it hard to recommend. The game does a nice job to recreate the experience it was looking for, but failed at making what these games make fun: the interesting level design and challenge.

5.5 / 10.0 - 3Souls
Oct 27, 2017

3Souls is a short but solid game. The puzzle setup has potential, but was lacking in execution and accessibility options. Even though it took three hours to complete, I would still recommend it for those who want to give this game a try.
