Elisha Deogracias's Reviews

I'm a big fan of weird and niche video games! I grew up on DDR, Katamari Damacy, Elite Beat Agents, and Trauma Center, so you know I'm a pretty fun rhythm agent doctor (just kidding.) I dabble in freelance, so if you want someone to help out with a script or story for a gaming project or need something reviewed, let me know! You can follow me on Examiner or Twitter to keep up with my sporadically updated pages. May be a kid or a squid.
90 / 100 - Astro's Playroom
Dec 16, 2020

Perhaps the only real issue I have is the overall length of the game, which can be excused since it’s, well, free. The game lasts under about two hours on a casual playthrough, though there’s tons to explore (with a platinum trophy requiring a little more thought when replaying levels for collectibles), as well as special online time trials you can participate in for the best time. Do I want more of Astro’s Playroom? Definitely, and if we could get a full-fledged sequel that could utilize the DualSense controller like this one, it would be a masterpiece.

Aliens Go Home Run is a title that packs a punch and has the balls to mix Breakout with shoot-em-up action. It’s a game that aims to be a fun little diversion, and accomplishes that goal quite well. At $4, it’s a must buy for anyone looking for a palate cleanser in the sea of AAA games.

Bye-Bye Box Boy! is a fitting farewell to a beloved sleeper hit. Its minimalist charm and some great puzzle mechanics grant a feeling of excitement for which all puzzle games should strive. I would love to see Qbby star on the Switch, but until then, this game marks the end of an amazing series.

At $12, you can't go wrong with Implosion. While it sometimes shows its mobile roots, the Switch version of the game is frantic, fluid fun with a great amount of content and thrilling gameplay. It's games like these that make me never lose hope that Rayark will astound me again with its next release.

Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition is the best version of the Legend of Zelda hack-and-slash experience. While it does suffer from some problems the original versions had, the plentiful amount of content mixed with entertaining gameplay and colorful cast of characters make this a legend the hero of time would love.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season's opener is a remarkably solid beginning of the end. Done Running's return to the first season's narrative structure is masterfully combined with a fine cast of characters and potential friendships. This is one series that I'll miss, but has the potential to go out with a bang.
