3 / 10.0 - Inmates
Oct 4, 2017

Inmates had ambitious intentions and a few good ideas, but these were not executed well at all. Fear and thrills were extinguished by the questionable 'shaking head' effect and the game's puzzles remained overly simplistic and did not feel challenging or rewarding to complete. In addition, I encountered a number of bugs that stopped me from progressing, at points. While this game may be attractively short for some, I cannot recommend the experience.

React Games may have had good intentions with Super Dungeon Bros, but it's miles off competing with the likes of Gauntlet or even older games like Castle Crashers. The game lacks originality, starving players of any truly enjoyable gameplay and its half-hearted attempt at embracing a rock theme doesn't amount to anything particularly unique or cool. Despite trying to keep things fresh by running daily and weekly challenges, it still doesn't offer anything that really draws players back in the long run. It's disappointing to see a game that had so much potential to add something new to the genre, fall short in so many ways. However, the most disappointing aspect of the game is its performance. With frequent crashes and poor frame rate when large numbers of enemies appear on-screen, Super Dungeon Bros is a title that I would advise people to avoid.

6 / 10.0 - Doom VFR
Dec 6, 2017

DOOM VFR is one of the most action-packed games I've ever played using the HTC Vive. It's a shame Bethesda ignored the huge amount of progress that has been made in VR development. DOOM VFR is a good game, but with a number of changes it could easily become a great game. Do not buy this game if you suffer from motion sickness as you simply won't be able to play it for longer than five minutes at a time. However, if the locomotion issues don't bother you, DOOM VFR is definitely worth picking up.

Rock Band Rivals offers less than expected, considering the state in which Rock Band 4 was released back in October last year. The content provided is not quite sufficient when taking the length of the Rockudrama and the poorly executed Rivals mode into consideration.

7.5 / 10.0 - Fractured Space
Nov 10, 2016

Fractured Space is a nice addition to the MOBA genre and makes a few tweaks that are much appreciated. With a vast list of ships, upgrades and customizations it creates countless opportunities and strategies for its players. Incorporating crew members that can be swapped out with ease, the game encourages its players to improve as they play, learning valuable information on the battlefield. Visually the game looks fantastic, with each ship showcasing a remarkable amount of detail as they majestically glide across attractive landscapes. Sadly, progression currently feels quite slow and this, combined with the lack of active players could deter those that have recently joined from sticking around. Although the game has the potential to be really fun for a group to play, I didn't have as much fun as I had hoped and I have no inclination to continue playing on my own. Nonetheless, if you have some time, a lot of patience and a few friends, Fractured Space is well worth a try.

8 / 10.0 - Fallout 4 VR

No other VR games offer an experience of this depth or length and while you will have to make a number of adjustments before jumping in, I think it's worth it.

8.5 / 10.0 - Silence
Nov 14, 2016

Silence is a beautiful game that combines emotional themes with breath-taking art and music. It works fantastically as a cinematic experience and takes its players on a concise yet fun adventure, integrating puzzles along the way. Daedelic have done an excellent job exploring the space between life and death, touching on dark and abstract feelings in a delicate and thoughtful way. It’ll definitely be interesting to hear what fans of ‘The Whispered World’ make of this game, nonetheless, I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys this genre.

9.5 / 10.0 - Planet Coaster
Nov 25, 2016

It's an understatement to say that Frontier Developments have outdone themselves with Planet Coaster. With its beautiful cartoon-style, incredible levels of customization and a small selection of fun modes to choose from, Planet Coaster has set a new standard for the genre. Nonetheless, it's still early days and with the foundations of the game being so solid, it's likely that we'll see the developer continue expanding the game so that it can reach its full potential. I thoroughly enjoyed playing Planet Coaster and can't wait to get back to my parks. Despite its long-awaited release, Planet Coaster does not disappoint and is well worth at least a few hours of your time.
