I Am Setsuna is perfect for those hoping to get their JRPG fix without sacrificing all their available free time for the next six months or anyone interested in completing a role-playing game that prioritizes enjoyability over hours played.

It is sandbox gaming on rails, giving players just enough freedom to deserve its genre placement without exposing them to an overwhelming array of resources and recipes. Gating some content behind the game’s narrative progression may irritate those with substantial genre experience. But the system provides a streamlined sandbox experience for those of us with less time; a design philosophy that clearly sets Dragon Quest Builders apart from the competition.

If you're a longtime fan of the series, or just someone looking for a top-notch sniping experience without having to wade into competitive multiplayer, we can't think of any reason to skip out on Sniper Elite 4.

If this turns out to be the last Tekken, it's great to see the franchise go out on its shield.

Puyo Puyo Tetris won't make converts out of those uninterested in Puyo Puyo or Tetris . Neither has been changed substantially for their latest outing. But those who still enjoy the occasional round of either puzzle game shouldn't hesitate to add the new mash-up to their PS4 or Switch collection.

8 / 10.0 - SteamWorld Dig 2
Oct 4, 2017

SteamWorld Dig 2 isn't just some rush-job sequel with limited appeal outside of the game's existing community. There are enough changes to the SWD2 formula for the sequel to appeal to those who weren't hooked by the first SteamWorld Dig without losing what made it popular in the first place.

If you spent more than a few hours with Shadow of Mordor, there's little doubt you'll find plenty of reasons to do the same with Shadow of War . And there's little reason to think anyone curious about the first game wouldn't find plenty to love in the sequel.

Tougher combat scenarios are most of what it brings to the table. If you hoped the first (maybe only) Horizon Zero Dawn expansion would expound on the game's ending, you'll be disappointed.

It's an interesting game, and one of the handful of current-gen projects that truly feel like they wouldn't have been possible on older consoles, but Dying Light ultimately falls short of being anything other than a decent time killer.

Destiny may not have been the shooter that we were hoping for, or even the revolutionary experience that Bungie promised, but we've still got high hopes for the game's future.

It may have some great tunes but, until those controls aren't quite so terrible, I'm going to have assume that OlliOlli was best left on the PS Vita. But, just as I mentioned in the headline, your mileage may vary.

Civilization: Beyond Earth makes a few alterations to the standard Civilization formula but Beyond Earth never really feels like much more than a glorified expansion for its predecessor.

WWE 2K16 isn't exactly the best wrestling game we've ever played. But it's not the worst, either.

Tom Clancy's The Division has plenty of polish and engaging gun fights but we're not quite sold on the latest shooter from Ubisoft.

If all you want is a better-looking version of Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition, and/or built-in online league support, then Blood Bowl 2 has you covered. But if you were hoping for a bit more from Cyanide Studios' next Blood Bowl release, it might be worth waiting until the price comes down and/or an upcoming Blood Bowl 2 patch gives the game a much-needed content injection.

Epistory takes some interesting chances and sets out to make a decidedly different game than anything we’ve experienced over the last few decades. Those who’ve been yearning for a new typing game may find enough to justify a $12.99 purchase, but Epistory is unlikely to convert any new fans of the genre.

All things considered, the first expansion for Dark Souls 3 is kind of a letdown, particularly if you don’t enjoy fighting other players.

Mekazoo does an excellent job of carving out its own identity, combining a unique aesthetic with mechanics that combine low level puzzle-solving and basic platforming mechanics. While we’ve certainly seen many of the elements on display in Mekazoo , I can’t think of any that managed to repurpose basic aspects of the platforming experience in such a unique manner.
