If the story, characters and voice acting doesn’t get to you, the frustrating controls and level design might put you over the edge.

4 / 10.0 - Call of Cthulhu
Nov 4, 2018

Call of Cthulhu is an example of a game that could have been but is tragically brought down by extremely basic gameplay elements and a total disregard for story characters. Minor bugs aside, I can't see many enjoying this game, but perhaps, just like anything negative, it'll become a cult classic two years down the line.

Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy takes the saying 'Truth is stranger than fiction' to a level that not even children can believe. If you can look past the ridiculousness of the contrived drama you'll find plenty of gems in the form of delightful brain teasers.

Whether you're looking for 5 minutes of brain bending challenges or just some academic fun, Dr Kawashima's Devilish Brain Training may be the game for you. It does take a long time to unlock all the content, but when you do, you're spoiled for choice.

6.5 / 10.0 - Miitopia
Jun 26, 2017

Miitopia is a strange and creative game. It takes the kooky little Mii characters and brings a little extra dimension to them while remaining bizarre and entertaining. The RPG element of the game is lacklustre, but the interpersonal relationships and friendship bonds are what makes you want to keep playing.

Kirby's Blowout Blast is a quick and simple game for any gamer no matter what you platformer skills are like. While you can finish it in one sitting, there are worse things you can spend the same amount of money on, like movie tickets to see the latest Transformers.

It’s unique, colourful and is great for short bursts of play. It’s simple enough for kids, and also complex enough for adults. Is it the next big hit? No.

7 / 10.0 - Overcooked

I don’t think it’s a game for everyone, but if you’re looking for a fun filler game for two (or more), then you may want to give this a shot.

It’s an entertaining and brutal game with some funny moments, like hearing your burly giant slayer mumble about his fingers numbing in the cold weather. I guess even vikings get cold.

7.5 / 10.0 - Matterfall
Aug 14, 2017

Matterfall ticks most of the boxes when it comes to a side-scrolling sci-fi game. Great visuals, great sounds, robot enemies and lots of jumping and shooting. It's rather short and doesn't have much replay value, but it you enjoy a good sci-fi game, then you should give this a go.

It’s good for both long sessions and quick bursts. Do I think it’s the best simulation-ish game out there? No, but I do like the Disney aspect of it. After all, I can’t grow veggies one minute and have a dance party with Sleeping Beauty the next in another game.

It’s a visual and musical spectacle that really shouldn’t be missed if you’re a fan of art.

I would certainly recommend the game to people who love the Kirby and Super Mario franchises, but if you’re teetering on indecision, then you might want to move on, especially if you already own the game on the Wii U.

The Evil Within 2 is a worthy and deserving sequel. You don't often want to visit a horror game, but I want to visit Union and fight alongside Sebastian Castellanos. If this game is sign for future games, it's in safe hands.
