Cuphead is a true masterpiece that every serious gamer should at least try. It's the most stylish and unique 2D action game since Viewtiful Joe.
X-morph Defense is the total package, one I had no clue I wanted but now wonder how I ever lived without.
I could go on forever about Warhammer: End Times Vermintide, it really hooked me.
Butcher is the type of game that really checks all the boxes for quality. The action is fast and fun, all to a heart pumping soundtrack and powerful sound effects. The controls are second nature and intuitive, with only a few important buttons to remember. It has its own distinct art style that I find uniquely beautiful.
Despite the similar formula to previous games, I'm feeling absolutely no franchise fatigue after hours of playing Sniper Elite 4. Every aspect of the game benefits from the change in setting and devotion to current generation hardware.
2064: Read Only Memories is the perfect example of a modern retro-style game.
I've told everyone who has asked me that Poi completely hooked me over the span of almost 13 hours. I earned all 100 medals, found all 50 golden gears, photographed every animal, found every costume, beat every mini-game, challenge AND more. It's incredibly addicting and rewarding to do all these things and the variety in the tasks kept it fresh.
Overall it may look like a typical shmup, but Ghost Blade HD is an exceptional shooter that holds its own against genre heavyweights.
It goes without saying that there is a lot of replay value in Immortal Redneck. With so many upgrades, characters to buy and three challenging pyramids, it will likely pay for itself (per hours played) before you ever reach the credits.
The Evil Within 2 is up there with some of my favorite games of 2017, an absolute must play for anyone who liked Resident Evil 4 or Dead Space. Now can we get a sequel to Shadows of the Damned already, Shinji?
Vostok Inc. is an incredible blend of twin-stick shooter and oddly enough…clicker style game.
When it comes to authenticity and racing fun, Formula 1 2017 is the total package.
Ken Follett and Daedalic managed to make a game revolving politics and religion incredibly compelling and fun. Fans of the book and fans of a good story should seriously consider entering the world of Knightsbridge on home consoles.
Battle Chasers: Nightwar does so many things right, and is an enjoyable experience throughout.
Hands down, Farm Together is the most immersive, enjoyable and accessible farming game that I’ve ever played. Everyone I know loves this game, I cannot recommend it enough.
Overall: 8.5/10
Death Road to Canada is easy to recommend to gamers who enjoy various genres. Kudos to developers Rocketcat Games and Madgarden for blending action, survival, adventure, narrative and even light RPG mechanics beautifully into a single game.
Silence stayed true to its name with a quiet release and little fanfare heading into December. It ended up being one of my most memorable and enjoyable games of the entire year.
While I don’t think any game is perfect, Rise & Shine is incredibly exemplary. Highly recommended.
If you were to tell me a month ago, that a mobile port would possibly be my favorite indie FPS, I’d have a hard time believing you. Yet here we are with Dead Effect 2, a game that more than satisfies my single player itch. Graphically it looks great, controls are nearly perfect and they managed to balance the gameplay to keep it challenging but not overly frustrating. Every kill and every dollar are meaningful and when shooters have meaning they are hard to put down.
