LJ Lowery's Reviews

Born and raised in Santa Paula, CA but now reside in Lafayette, LA. Cut my teeth on Platformers, Fighting Games, and Beat 'Em Ups back in the days of the Genesis and SNES. I love video games and play many different kinds.

Soldiers of the Universe is simply an unfinished game. With inconsistent graphics, terrible AI, and plenty of bugs, it should have stayed in Early Access longer than two months. There are many other games out there that you and your wallet will be happy with.

There is a good game somewhere in Contra: Rogue Corps, but it quickly falls apart before it even gets a shot at being an enjoyable experience.

4 / 10.0 - Prodigy Tactics
Oct 15, 2018

On the surface, Prodigy Tactics boasts a high quality presentation and entertaining gameplay. Unfortunately, it suffers from technical issues and doesn't offer very much for players to do. Having just been brought out of Early Access, it should have stayed a little longer.

4 / 10.0 - Deployment
Apr 30, 2018

Deployment is unique in that it blends arcade style shooters with competitive elements. Procedurally generated levels and power ups are a fun addition to the action as well. Unfortunately, there was no online community to be found when this game was deployed onto Steam.

4 / 10.0 - Syberia 3
May 9, 2017

The developers have been working hard to play catch up in a genre that they once held a title belt in. Microids had so much time to make something outstanding, and yet their effort feels half-hearted. Fans of the series will likely find the result of all those years to be underwhelming.

Orangeblood could have been something unique while calling back to the days of retro JRPGs, but its derogatory dialogue holds it back from being an experience worthwhile.

King's Bounty II has the potential to be great, but brings great frustration to what otherwise could have been a grand adventure.

Bleeding Edge puts its own spin on the competitive multiplayer formula, but fails to stand out even with its fun action-packed gameplay.

Underworld: Ascendant is a very ambitious RPG from a well-seasoned staff that knows the genre. Unfortunately, there is so much that gets in the way of having a great time; a wasted potential from some talented individuals.

EA Sports PGA Tour is quite the bogey, but isn't far from stepping up to the competition.

5.7 / 10.0 - Mr. Shifty
Apr 17, 2017

Mr. Shifty boasts some unique combat and gameplay elements that has the player getting creative throughout its 18 stages. Unfortunately, even with a cool comic book-inspired art style, the game feels plain. At a length of only 4 hours, players will likely teleport through this one and never come back.

5.8 / 10.0 - RWBY: Grimm Eclipse
Feb 9, 2017

Grimm Eclipse is full of fun, mindless combat. Though it lacks a certain level of polish, it does represent the series very strongly. Unfortunately, replayability is limited if players don't have a team of friends to fight Grimm alongside.

Unfortunately, Rodea the Sky Soldier is flying in low altitude. There is great potential, but the bad controls and camera are what shoot Rodea out of the sky. Here's hoping we get to see a bigger and better sequel one day.
