Khurram Imtiaz's Reviews
Battlefield 1 tackles the horrors of World War 1 in an exceptional, but albeit short, single player campaign while offering some cutting edge multiplayer with its operations mode. It serves as the perfect getaway for newcomers as well as old Battlefield veterans looking for a way to jump back into the series.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 gives the player an opportunity to explore the world of Dragon Ball and interact with their favorite cast of characters. The game's story deals with the scenarios presented in the classic Dragon Ball Z series while also adding the latest movies to the mix. As a sequel, it manages to stick to the same old formula but tries to freshen up by improving on its predecessor.
BlazBlue: Central Fiction is the final chapter in the Ragna the Bloodedge saga and it provides a fitting end to the story. The gameplay excels in its fast paced combat and the visuals never cease to amaze with their gorgeously drawn sprites. The game is well tailored for newcomers and fans alike.
My time with Infinite Warfare was a mix of pure adrenaline goodness coupled with some frustrations. Activision has delivered a solid shooter, but doesn't add much to the genre. Infinite Warfare is not something I'll be playing often, but the Zombie mode is another story entirely.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition is a well rounded package that offers improved visuals and mod support on consoles. While the game's combat mechanics could have been retouched to better fit the current generation, the exploration and freedom of choice being offered is still unmatched and the mod support adds much to its replay value.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a remaster done right. Unfortunately it lacks content at launch with just 10 multiplayer maps, and the game being tied to the special edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare doesn't really help much in this case.
Final Fantasy XV is a breath of fresh air for the series which was starting to lose its significance after the release of Final Fantasy XIII. It is one of the best open world game on the current generation consoles and a return to the form for the franchise.
Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization is a faithful representation of the source material that unfortunately has flaws in gameplay that can be infuriating at times. This is an unfortunate consequence of trying to follow the aesthetics of an MMO world.
Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection offers three excellent games in one single package, unfortunately it also does this at the expense of stripping out the multiplayer from game.
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the definitive experience on the PS4 with the jump to 1080p resolution coupled with all the post-launch DLC. It should be a good starting point for those who are new to the series while offering a returning point for the fans.
Dead Rising 4 is an improvement over its predecessor, unfortunately it also strips down some of the fan favorite features from the past games, making it noticeably worse in execution.
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is a visually striking platformer with top notch production values.
Bold, stylish and beautiful, Yakuza 0 is a worthy entry point for the series.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 features a well made remaster and gives further insight into the backstory for the series with an animated movie as well as the prologue to Kingdom Hearts 3.
Resident Evil 7 is one of the scariest games released this generation and a return to the form for the series.
Digimon World: Next World offers a steep initial difficulty and learning curve but for those who stick around, they end up with a satisfying experience.
For Honor offers a unique online multiplayer experience with its fights that remains unmatched in the current gaming landscape.
Berserk and the Band of the Hawk offers an interesting story full of action but fails to deliver on the gameplay. It is a game for the fans of the series but it should also serve as an introduction to newcomers.
NieR: Automata offers top notch action with an emotionally engaging story. It is the perfect blend of the crazy direction of Yoko Taro with the gameplay specialty of Platinum Games, resulting in one of the best games to be released this year.
Danganronpa 1-2 Reload is the perfect visual novel to play if you like murder mysteries. It has surprisingly great writing for a visual novel originated in Japan and it is a must play for fans of the genre.
