10 / 10.0 - Cuphead
Nov 17, 2017

StudioMDHR has knocked it out of the park with their debut title, as Cuphead will no doubt go down as an all-time classic.

9.5 / 10.0 - Forza Horizon 3

Forza Horizon 3 is the best racing game on Xbox One, hands down. It is the pinnacle of what the genre has to offer. Beautiful landscapes, varied racetracks, and an insane amount of customization options create one of the best values on the system.

9.5 / 10.0 - Super Hydorah
Sep 19, 2017

Locomalito has once again created an unforgettable experience that stands head and shoulders above the competition. With incredible level design, perfect controls, and an astounding attention to detail, it’s not ridiculous to call this the greatest shmup ever made. One man has set the standard for a genre through passion and a deep understanding for what makes games enjoyable.

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap sets the standard for remakes in the future. Lizard Cube has done a fantastic job in creating an imaginative world that still caters to fans of the original, as neither party has to make compromises here. The audio and visual switching mechanic works flawlessly and is easily the most exciting part about this title. While some of the game’s mechanics may seem dated due to the original title's age, it’s the gorgeous world and satisfying gameplay that make this game an easy recommendation.

8 / 10.0 - Detention 返校

Detention stands as one of the creepiest games available on Steam, all while being a textbook example of how atmosphere is the king of horror.

It's a shame that Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped is such a dreadful experience because the first two games in this collection are absolute gold. Vicarious Visions has succeeded in making Crash look completely contemporary, however, the level design and structure has remained unchanged. This is the best way to introduce new gamers to the orange marsupial, however, it's his existing fans that will enjoy it the most.

Battlechasers: Nightwar is a fun rpg that benefits from the mythos that the original comics created. The characters are enjoyable, the world is teeming with personality, and the combat is both challenging and rewarding. There’s enough content here to keep most rpg fans happy, especially if they plan to complete the dungeons on the hardest difficulty level. Newcomers to the franchise will have no trouble getting into this one.

7.5 / 10.0 - Blue Revolver
Feb 27, 2017

For what Blue Revolver lacks in presentation, it certainly makes up for it with a fantastic gameplay and scoring system. It undoubtedly serves as a great entry shooter for newcomers to the bullet hell genre thanks to its simple tutorial. It’s nice to see indie developers taking a stab at niche genres, and hopefully titles like this will entice more people to give them a try.

7.5 / 10.0 - Blaster Master Zero
Mar 28, 2017

Despite the lack of difficulty during the majority of the adventure, Blaster Master Zero provides an excellent retro package that does the original title justice. Ten bucks nets players a highly polished experience that encourages full completion, which is nice to see in 2017. Hopefully, this won’t be the last of the Blaster Master franchise, as it fits surprisingly well in the modern era.

7.5 / 10.0 - World to the West
May 16, 2017

Even with its flaws, World to the West is a fun adventure game that has plenty of clever moments. The characters are enjoyable all the way through, the environments are a joy to look at, and the puzzles are a blast to solve. Each of the main characters' unique abilities are used to their fullest potential as well, meaning that there is enjoyment to be had with each one. It’s just a shame that the combat is only fun with one of them. Fans of classic Zelda titles will not be disappointed, however, as this world is certainly worth exploring.

7.5 / 10.0 - Arms
Jun 24, 2017

While it certainly has its fair share of flaws, ARMS absolutely nails the fun-factor. It's a simple game that offers so much depth for players willing to put in the work, and while the content is fairly limited, there is enough for both casual and hardcore audiences.

Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters: Daybreak Special Gigs is not a bad game. The visual fidelity is some of the best in the genre, combining anime style hand drawn art with fluid motion. The story itself is also very entertaining and will likely push players to get through the boring strategy segments in order to find out what happens next. Fans of visual novels will find plenty to enjoy here, while strategy fans will likely be disappointed.

With a reasonable price tag and a focus on the multiplayer, Super Bomberman R could have been great. The current model would have been passable if the game was half the price of its msrp, but the developers were just too set on shoehorning in a disappointing story mode in an attempt to justify the high price point.

5 / 10.0 - Hey! Pikmin

Hey! Pikmin is stuck in a weird place that hinders its fun-factor. There’s no real challenge during the entire adventure, puzzles require no thought whatsoever, and levels seem to repeat the same ideas over and over again.

4 / 10.0 - Hollow
Mar 7, 2018

Unfortunately, there really isn’t any kind of gamer that Hollow would be a recommendation for. It fails on all attempts at being a horror title while also being one of the most frustrating experiences on Nintendo Switch.
