While its local multiplayer will keep friends entertained, its lack of online multiplayer as well as the dearth of single player content make this a choice only for friendly gatherings where all the players are physically present.

7 / 10 - Starwhal
Nov 7, 2015

Starwhal is an unusual and overall unique game that fully reveals itself on multiplayer. Its original and amusing gameplay and very entertaining multiplayer experience make this an option that will surely satisfy those who invest on it. Pity that its single player experience is a shadow of its multiplayer component and there's no online mode to make up for that.

Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros. brings forth a very interesting and fun crossover between two of Nintendo's most cherished series featuring some of its most appreciated characters. The two worlds come together in a very successful way, even if it's clear that the mechanics of the Mario & Luigi series are more predominant than those of the Paper Mario series. The amount of tutorials could be lower to make the experience more fluid and its plot is too predictable but this remains a fun and enticing title.

Nintendo finaly gets its Minecraft, delivered onto the Wii U's eShop and how does it add up? It's Minecraft, nothing else to add - and it doesn't build up on the other versions available. It's the same unlimited and never-ending building game but it doesn't fully make use of the Wii U's capabilities.

Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon is a very welcomed addition to the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon world. Its marvelous visual portraying, a staggering set of 720 Pokémon available and its very long lifespan will be cherished by fans of the series, despite its dialogues and plot being perhaps too much to handle for less committed followers.

In single-player mode, Shadow Puppeteer is a much weaker game, technical issues and control problems become more evident and it's not challenging enough to justify a new go. Despite being based on several good ideas, Shadow Puppeteer performs way below its potential.

5 / 10 - Space Hulk
Feb 29, 2016

Space Hulk is presented as a videogame version of the board game that carries the same name, which is both a blessing and a curse. If its campaign mode can offer a long experience and the Wii U's GamePad is adequately used to interact with the game, its shallow gameplay does not captivate those looking for a good strategy game.

5 / 10 - Discovery
Mar 16, 2016

While Discovery boasts an enormous map and plenty of available resources, it suffers from a lack of originality and pales next to Minecraft. The game is also affected by several technical flaws and the lack of an online mode makes it less appealing, despite a competent local co-op multiplayer and an overall good presentation.

Hyrule Warriors: Legends is a good conversion from the Wii U's Zelda-inspired fighting game and it brings an enormous amount of content and gameplay that can easily go into one hundred hours. It's difficult to understand, however, why there is no multiplayer in this version and the lack of a cross save feature will frustrate many who have already gone through the Wii U original.

7 / 10 - Yo-Kai Watch
Apr 19, 2016

A stunning looking RPG with fun interactions and gameplay, Yo-Kai Watch packs over one hundred hours of lifespan to explore fully. While it could have invested more in developing its plot, it's a very welcome arrival to the European market of a game that has spawned a successful series in its home country.

Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest clearly stands out as one of the greatest titles in Nintendo's tactical RPG series. Improving on its formula while delivering what the players expect, this chapter provides a rich, refined and long-lasting gameplay experience, along with a magnificent visual work and an extremely demanding difficulty level. Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest shows that it's possible to improve key aspects of an established formula while remaining loyal to its roots.

6 / 10 - Dreamals
May 10, 2016

Dreamals is a surprisingly fun and addictive head-scratching platformer, riddled with puzzles that will keep the players captivated for the length of its eighty levels. It falls short of expectations on its visual and sound environments, nevertheless, as it could certainly use a more stable framerate and a more varied soundtrack, not to mention some interaction with the Wii U GamePad but fans of puzzling platformers will find reasons to enjoy Dreamals.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is one of the best turn-based RPGs to be released in recent years and the best of its genre in the Wii U catalogue. While it does not reach a perfect balance between the Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei series and it certainly could have a more inspiring plot, its length, the fun and deep moments of combat and dungeon exploration are more than enough to genuinely attract any RPG fan to this title.

Sweetest Thing is clearly a game designed for the mobile market which unfortunately did not receive a proper conversion treatment when ported to the Wii U. As such, there are several gameplay aspects which, as adequate as they may be for a mobile system, just do not fit in with the Wii U, beyond its short lifespan and repetitive nature.

7 / 10 - Dual Core
Sep 20, 2016

Dual Core is a competent arcade-style shooter that comes out on top when played on a local co-op. It misses out on the solo experience, as its one-player mode is far less fun and compelling than with two, three or four players, which only makes the lack of an online multiplayer mode more difficult to understand. Be as it may, Dual Core will certainly be a good choice for anyone eager for some fun and intense multiplayer shooting experience.

7 / 10 - Tumblestone
Oct 5, 2016

Tumblestone is a magnificent puzzle game which visibly stands out as one of the best titles of the genre in the Wii U catalogue. Pity the disproportionate gap between its gameplay and its visual and sound components, as well as its cost, as these flaws prevent it from being even more of an indispensable option for any Wii U player.

5 / 10 - Tetraminos
Nov 10, 2016

While it doesn't really innovate or go beyond the limits of the original's gameplay, it works well enough and its local multiplayer will provide some hours of fun. Pity that it doesn't have anything else to stand for itself and that the lack of online modes as well as its long loading times make this a less fun game than it could.

While using easily recognizable characters from popular cartoon series can prove to be a successful formula, it's hard to see how that will benefit Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers. Its gameplay has virtually no points that stand out from an overall feeling of mediocrity and the lack of features of this title only make the selling price seem even more disproportionate for what is a game that offers no redeeming factors.

Yo-Kai Watch 2 builds up on the original game and delivers what is expected of a sequel. It's full of content that is well likely to push the game's lifespan into over one hundred hours of gameplay for the most ambitious players, it includes a very welcome online multiplayer feature and an interesting combat system, even if it's not the most thrilling system ever designed. Its similarities to the original game are many and those already familiar with it will find the first hours rather uninteresting but Yo-Kai Watch 2 is a competent and entertaining sequel worthy of the time of any JRPG fan.

Featuring an interesting plot with plenty of motivating puzzles, good characters, several alternative endings and overall, an enjoyable experience, Parascientific Escape - Gear Detective is a visual novel that will appeal both to fans and to newcomers alike. The game's qualities certainly stand up against its rather low audiovisual production values and being sold at a low price only makes it more appealing as a quality game that's worthy of a player's time.
