Debris Infinity draws direct inspiration from the most popular 1980s 2D arcade shooters to deliver a fun and intuitive experience, along with an enjoyable multiplayer component, topped by its online leaderboards that get updated in real time. It will take more than this, however, to convince players that want more than a simple high score challenge, but fans of the simple gameplay that Debris Infinity recreates will find plenty of reasons to enjoy this title.

7 / 10 - Rival Megagun
Feb 23, 2019

Rival Megagun may seem like other retro-themed shoot'em ups but its additional gameshow component makes sure to put that reading behind. While unusua,l this additional element works very well as an extra layer following the typical shooting sections and if the game's single player experience feels rather limited, the multiplayer component is very competent and enjoyable. If Rival Megagun's online community starts growing, the game will only gain from it.

5 / 10 - Heroes Trial
Mar 23, 2019

Heroes Trials does not hide its references and inspirations, and there's nothing wrong with that. What Heroes Trials does wrong, though, is how to execute those influences and as such, what we end up getting is a rather lacklustre effort where its innovative plot and open world exploration end up being harmed by an overall lack of challenge, an art style which does not dazzle anyone and a level design that does not compare to adventure game classics.

Swords & Soldiers is back to a Nintendo console with a fun and competent work that features a simple and entertaining gameplay, a sharp strategic component and a very alluring multiplayer mode. Where Swords and Soldiers falls short is on it lack of online capacities and when played with the Switch controller, it requires some time to get used to.

7 / 10 - RICO
Apr 18, 2019

RICO is a rather simple and accessible first person shooter which fits the Nintendo Switch nicely for quick gaming sessions and which also boasts a very long lifespan, thanks to its roguelike structure. While occasionally some of its levels do not quite allow the player to solve them, RICO's wealthy and varied content help make this an enjoyable and its multiplayer component, both local and online, only improves the experience.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid will not disappoint those within the Power Rangers fan base looking for a fun and simple 2D fighting game and its well implemented online component further adds to that. Where Battle for the Grid falls short, however, is on its visual component, which does not attempt to fully profit from the Nintendo Switch capacities and especially, on its business model, which will impose the need for paid DLC in order to expand the fighters' roster.

Where this edition for the Nintendo Switch falls short, however, is on its lack of VR features that can be found on other versions of the same game, which make it feel like something is missing. If the most dedicated players will have plenty to look forward, those looking for a simpler experience might find the learning involved too cumbersome.

Dusty Raging Fist brings back the beloved beat'em up genre to the Nintendo Switch and while it doesn't reinvent the formula, it certainly does a decent job with its visuals, simple combat mechanics and its three-player co-op mode. It could be even better with more emphasis on the fighting techniques and some tweaks to its gameplay when it comes to the leveling up of characters and challenge.

Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled brings the original game to our age and it does a fine job at that, as the experience goes way beyond improved graphics and sound. The amount of game modes, characters and customization elements, as well as the online and offline multiplayer components and the solid gameplay make this a very healthy proposal for fans of the series and of kart-racing games.

6 / 10 - Metagal
Jul 23, 2019

Metagal is an action-platform game based on several recognizable classic series of previous generations and it does a good job at that, as the game will certainly catch the eyes of that target audience. Where Metagal could have gone further is where it concerns its own ideas, which end up being sidelined in a way that would make this an even better game, were those ideas given more protagonism.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is undoubtedly a fun and well-written point and click adventure which features very challenging (if sometimes frustrating) puzzles, an involving plot and a laudable art style. It would be an easy game to recommend to nearly everyone were it not for its exaggerated price compared to the same game on other platforms and being a point and click adventure, it could certainly benefit from touch screen controls.

Rise: Race the Future brings simplicity back to racing games and reduces the experience to a minimal but competent formula that puts all emphasis on the steering skills and art style. Anyone who puts some time into this game will find a challenging work but those looking for a multiplayer experience should strongly consider their options, as Rise: Race the Future features only single player choices.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil undergoes a remaster treatment on the Nintendo Switch and the overall result is positive, where the hardware limitations that constrained the original have been overcome and the gameplay experience has been improved thanks to motion controls. At the same time, it's clear that the game's concept is not up to date and there might not be enough elements here that will convince those who did not play the original game.
