Pay-to-Win and Wait-to-Play do not a Triple-A title make. Final rating: $$$ out of 10

5.5 / 10.0 - Nine Parchments
Dec 16, 2017

A near miss for "instant classic" that could have been so much more, and possibly could still be someday, with some quality of life updates from the developers.

6 / 10.0 - Darksiders III

The watered down and (seemingly) pointless RPG elements and linear confines of the world mixed with very poorly optimized combat will leave you itching to dig out the other two titles to play instead.

6 / 10.0 - Akiba's Beat
May 15, 2017

What could have been a decent visual novel was marred by unnecessary walking, dungeon repetition, and a dull combat engine. Unless you are really dedicated to your purchase, trudging through to the end of this game doesn't seem like something that most people will do.

Peach Beach Splash may be good for a rental, but it's hard to justify a full price tag considering how shallow the game is in terms of content and how quickly you can breeze through it.

6.5 / 10.0 - Just Cause 4
Dec 19, 2018

Just Cause 4 suffers from having little to no meat on its bones and a very poor graphical presentation. The complete freedom of movement is exhilarating but ultimately not enough to keep your attention for more than a couple sessions.

6.5 / 10.0 - Observer

As far as budget titles go, this one is a little steep for the relative lack of gameplay and storyline you get packaged with it-- but if you like incredibly detailed and spooky atmospheres coupled with plenty of jump-scares, this one may be worth a buy for you.

7 / 10.0 - Metro Exodus
Mar 9, 2019

Metro: Exodus is a beautiful disaster that will probably disappear from the radar quickly and will likely be remembered for its incredible graphic design, but forgotten for its lack of substance.

The generic and fairly uninteresting plot doesn't do much to drive the player to read the entire visual novel section, but the button smashing frenzy of the fighting portions and various game modes will keep you coming back for more.

I feel like the product was branded and shipped to market "as is" to try and get what they could off of a lost and dead project. It's still worth a play, but definitely wait until the price drops or just borrow it from a friend.

An intellectually (if not aesthetically) pleasing visual novel that may only appeal to regulars of the franchise. While Danganronpa v3 has it's own unique story-line not connected to the other games and a good mix of quirky characters, I can't help but feel like I missed my ride on the hype train for not having played the other titles first.

Definitely worth a purchase as you'll get your money's worth in play time and experience. One of the best exclusives for PlayStation.

8.7 / 10.0 - SoulCalibur VI
Oct 19, 2018

Soul Calibur VI is a fantastic reboot that hearkens back to the golden age of fighting games where anyone could pick up a controller, get lost, and just -have fun-.

9 / 10.0 - Nex Machina

A flashy and fun adrenaline shot of tight controls and exploding mayhem; this budget title is a must-have for any fan of arcade style Shoot em' Ups and Dual-Stick Shooters.
