Unscored - Wild Hearts
Feb 16, 2023

I’ve got plenty more to see of Wild Hearts before giving it a score, but as it stands I’m not relishing the task. Its frame rate issues and graphical glitches make this RPG game unplayable on PC, and it’s not just me; other colleagues within PCGamesN and PC reviewers across the internet have found the same thing. I’m desperately hoping that a day-one patch will fix these issues, because the game shows a lot of promise. While it may require a bit of relearning for some experienced hunters, there are plenty of fun new ideas that make hunting in Wild Hearts different enough. But in its current state, we can’t recommend picking it up.

Unscored - High on Life
Dec 13, 2022

I’ve not had all that long to take in High on Life’s wacky universe, so there’s not much else we can say other than it’s a love letter to fans of Roiland’s previous work. High on Life shows signs of being a good shooter now and then with some creative boss battles and powerful weapons, but other than that, it’s been rather run-of-the-mill so far.

Unscored - Gato Roboto
Jul 9, 2019

Added together, the checkpointing and easy fights make Gato Roboto feel like it never really gets going. In an ideal world I would have seen more interesting puzzles and challenging enemies, but as it is, and because there are only a handful of sectors to explore, your couple of hours with Kiki are likely to feel a bit empty.

It's a shame not to see anything new here for the gameplay, but the 4K visuals and orchestral soundtrack do a lot to drive home the point that VanillaWare make good looking and sounding games.

Beneath the surface there have been many improvements, but it's important to note that these are improvements to what was already a great game.

A Walk in the Park is indispensable for those who have played the base game. It feels in no way out of place, is an interesting locale to explore, and has plenty of new enemies to overcome. It's just a shame there's barely anything there for players who have completed the game in terms of challenge.

Those hoping for the same on the Nintendo Switch should probably avoid purchasing Doom for Nintendo's platform as it's easily the worst place to play it on.

Fallout 4 VR is certainly a neat way of experiencing the universe and there are times where suddenly being attacked by something can be terrifying, yet I can't see myself playing it for long periods of time.

This DLC makes for a fitting end to one of 2017's earliest success stories.

Much like so many middle films in trilogies, it all feels like this is the stop-gap between the first part and the concluding chapter that will apparently release later this year.

Nostalgia does play a lot into the appeal of the Rise of the Necromancer DLC for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, but if you are prepared to play a half decade old game and its expansion one more time with the new class, you'll find that it truly is a fun experience. A lot of care has gone into the design of the skills and abilities and there's no greater feeling than standing back to watch your minions annihilate some tough monsters and unearth that legendary loot.

Overall Fractured Worlds does have some good additions, but the core hook will have limited appeal and the performance issues unique to it badly need ironing out. ... Motörhead: Through the Ages, on the other hand, looks as if it's had more care and attention put into it.

If you've beaten it and are looking for a fresh challenge, go for it. If not, beat the main game first before deciding.

A piece of DLC that for fans will signal closure for the lore and single-player offerings – for the time being at least. It has some of the best moments that the franchise has to offer, some not-so great moments, and indeed some throwbacks to key parts of the series. Until the time comes when Hidetaka Miyazaki wishes to return to this beloved franchise, this heralds the season finale with much more confidence than the previous DLC. Praise the Sun!

Far Harbor was definitely going to be the best out of the three, but it certainly exceeded my expectations for this first tranche of DLC.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is much better suited to Switch and outperforms the original for a stable frame rate.

Compared to the original, Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon is an utter disgrace. For me, it took all the good stuff out and amplified the things that didn't work. Performance is notably worse, and don't get me started again about how bad the dialogue is in this cookie cutter excuse for a sequel. Even if you like this kind of titillation, this is a remarkably poor example of it. Avoid at all costs.

3 / 10 - Morphite
Nov 10, 2017

There is such a thing as being too laid-back and Morphite is most certainly that. With visuals that are too basic and lacking in character, an almost sleep inducing pace, and some technical issues on Switch that can't be ignored, there are few redeeming qualities for this utter snooze-fest.

Games like this live or die by their multiplayer community and while it's sad to see no such community thrive for a competitive platforming racing game, maybe this isn't the best game to mourn for. Its dated looks, slippery controls, and occasional bugs don't exactly help, but the lack of originality compared to both Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams and Speedrunners just highlight the problems with this copy and paste effort. Go play Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams instead of this.
