Hail Satan.
Feb 10, 2021

As the title itself indicates, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury proves to be more than just the re-proposal in Nintendo Switch sauce of an exclusive Wii U not particularly lucky: the idea of inserting for once a completely new extra is very appreciable, and you find the ideas inside Bowser's Fury are not lacking at all. While the difference in tone and gameplay between the two games is quite right, the overall superiority of Super Mario 3D World over the new adventure is also evident, which ends up being an appendix or little more. The effect is that of a very solid pairing, which once again celebrates the undisputed supremacy of the Great N in the platforming field.

8.7 / 10.0 - Farpoint
May 18, 2017

Farpoint is the perfect crossover between arcade light gun shooters à la The House of the Dead and old-school First Person Shooters. The result is a jaw-dropping experience that truly becomes unparalleled thanks to the power of VR and to the quality of the Aim Controller peripheral: this might be the first full blown traditional game 100% built around VR, and despite a few shortcomings you literally won't believe your eyes. In its own ways, Farpoint truly takes the shooter genre to a whole new level: if this is not a killer application, we're pretty close to that.

A quirky crossover that seamlessly blends two universes apparently far away, a compelling strategic game that despite its simplicity has a lot of depth to it (and one that could be a perfect introduction to the genre) and above all a production that truly captures that special, peculiar Nintendo feel: well played Crying Ubisoft Man, well played.

Metroid: Samus Returns is more than a brilliant remake of a relatively obscure cult-classic: it's a very significant moment for the whole saga, one that actually marks the rebirth of a beloved heroine after a troubled time.

8.7 / 10.0 - Gears 5
Sep 9, 2019

Gears 5 is a very solid chapter in one of the sagas that truly define Xbox as a gaming platform: an episode that boldly reaffirms the attitude of the Lancer-armored squads and the talent of The Coalition as a studio ' stopping just a small step before excellence.

8.6 / 10.0 - Gears of War 4
Oct 6, 2016

Gears of War is back with a very solid entry in the beloved franchise: the lack of courage and the apparent fear of taking risks prevents Gears of War 4 from entering the absolute gotha of the genre, yet with its compelling campaign and the usual, stellar multiplayer, this remains one hell of a ride.

8.6 / 10.0 - Splatoon 2
Jul 18, 2017

Rather than a full blown sequel, Splatoon 2 frankly feels more like an (impressive) extention of the original episode, especially if you've been splatting around since 2015. Players of the Wii U chapter will truly feel at home, with a sense of familiarity that will certainly replace the stunning surprise effect that made the franchise so unique, while the newcomers will have the pleasure to experience one of the best and most original shooters ever created (one the perfectly embodies the so called "Nintendo Difference"). That said, with more courage and better online options this sequel would have been even more impressive.

8.5 / 10.0 - Celeste
Feb 5, 2018

Celeste is not only a brilliant platformer, one that will surely entertain you with its unusual difficulty and its astonishing level design. Celeste is a touching story about depression, a metaphor of life and ultimately a video game that will teach you a valuable lesson: never give in, no matter if you're dealing with a Gargantuan montain, a series of seemingly impossible jumps or anxiety. It might not be the next indie apocalypse, but it's still a product that's well worth of your time and money.

Donkey Kong is a pleasant expansion, with a gameplay changed and adapted to the needs of the characters. Inspired, colored, passionate, he only sins in the repetitiveness of his enemies.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is an experience that pleases, entertains and excites, but also flows guided and within limited tracks (and I'm not necessarily referring to the rails to grind in passages from the interaction inversely proportional to the majesty of the show), without perhaps ever upsetting beyond the disturbing technical aspect.

8.3 / 10.0 - Snake Pass
Apr 3, 2017

Snake Pass is currently my personal surprise of 2017: a platformer-that's-not-really-a-platformer with strong puzzle elements and a pretty irresistible approach, built with passion and wit around an unconventional concept. It's also a bizarre and surprisingly hardcore experiment overall, one that will make some players fall in love while irritating others: it won't please everyone, but its desire for something original is certainly commendable.

8.3 / 10.0 - Little Nightmares
Apr 21, 2017

A twisted fairy tale that dwells in the grotesque and in the macabre, Little Nightmares is a narrative platformer that you will eventually remember for its fascinating atmosphere (and its remarkable graphics and audio design) rather than for its gameplay.

For 29.99€ you'll bring yourself home more than fifty titles that changed the gaming history in the early 90s: SEGA Mega Drive Classics is definitely a reasonable package, one that's pretty well built considering the variety of the selection and the online support. Not everything has aged properly, but it's still well worth it (especially at this price and during this seemingly never-ending wave of nostalgia).

Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle is a celebration of cult classics and a tribute to a beloved genre that was never forgotten: for 19.99' you can bring yourself home a piece of history that still deserves to be discovered and played, one continue after another. In other words, don't miss this hymn to pure arcade fun.

It is hard to see why Microsoft has so quietly launched a very gluttonous DLC that, in its small way, it could have represented the Xbox response to sony's operation with Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. In a wild race between stone idols and legendary monsters, the three hours of Hivebusters will serve to remind you why Gears is after all these years a series still so damn satisfying. Hivebusters is a must-see for all Marcus Fenix fans, and strongly recommended for anyone who wants to get closer to the saga for the first time.

8.2 / 10.0 - GoNNER
Jul 12, 2017

If you're looking for an honest - yet brutal - challenge and you're not afraid of getting lost in a quirky and abstract dimension, dive in and join the water drop Ikk in his procedural adventure: monsters, sweat, lots of swear words and many satisfactions will be waiting for you in this fierce platformer/shooter hybrid with a roguelike structure (one that actually works really well with the Nintendo Switch philosophy).

8.2 / 10.0 - Crawl
Dec 19, 2017

Crawl and Nintendo Switch can be considered a match made in Heaven (or in Hell, considering the setting): absolutely enjoyable when played in two and potentially a blast with three or four players, this weird and highly original mix of genres is a perfect fit for those in search of a thrilling competition. Be warned: with the right group of people, Crawl could quickly turn into a little cult.

8.2 / 10.0 - Battletoads
Aug 20, 2020

In no uncertain terms, Battletoads is the surprise that at this point probably no one would have expected: the unknown Englishmen of Dlala Studios have managed to give a whole new soul to a franchise that has remained obscure to most and abandoned for over twenty-five years, presenting themselves with a loud and hilarious playable cartoon that is hard to remain indifferent to. A cheerful video game, sometimes demanding and always deliciously summery, which is loved by the innate sympathy that is capable of inspiring both in terms of atmospheres (writing, aesthetics and above all animations are really perfect) as well as in terms of gameplay, with in particular, an original and satisfying scrolling fighting game system. Of course, there are some flaws in some passages, occasional mistakes of youth are seen here and there and the unjustified absence of online multiplayer weighs heavily ... defects that in any case do not compromise at all an experience more than ever recommended, which relaunch the trio of hilarious toads as little big new entries in the green Xbox galaxy. TOADSHAMBO !!!

8.2 / 10.0 - Astro's Playroom
Nov 6, 2020

Astro's Playroom is a tangible demonstration of dualsense's incredible potential, but also the sublime meeting point between playstation's past and future. It is difficult, if not impossible, to determine at the moment whether the admirable route traced by ASOBI Team in exploiting the features of the new PS5 controller will remain a little beaten path or the high road taken by most. In doubt, it is still worth abandoning yourself to a colorful party that will make you laugh, entertain, excite and gasp. A very first step in the new generation of those not to be underestimated, as well as the perfect showcase of gaming in sensory format that Sony would like us to live on PlayStation 5 (celebrating its origins from A to Z in the meantime).
