10 / 10 - Persona 5
Mar 29, 2017

Girls and boys, Persona 5 is simply the new king of Japanese role playing games, and it may even be 2016 game of the year. The story is so deep, the battle system is so well-executed, the art direction is so amazing and the music is so groovy ! I instantly felt in love with this game and I am pretty sure you will do too.

10 / 10 - Persona 5 Royal
Mar 17, 2020

Whether you played Persona 5 or not, Persona 5 Royal is simply a must play for everyone. There is more content with updated gameplay mechanics that make the game even more enjoyable than before. The new confidants add a new layer to Joker, deepening our understanding of its psyche and our immersion in the process. Persona 5 Royal is just better than a Persona 5 overhaul.

We could not have thought of a better way to end Kiryu Kazuma's adventures. More than a simple GTA clone, Yakuza 6 is a generous game which will provide you with hundred hours of an amazing gaming experience. You will never be bored with the never ending amount of content available in this game. Moreover, Japanese culture enthusiasts will have a great time hanging out in a very well modelized versions of Hiroshima and Kabukicho. A must have !

Shadowbringers is simply the best MMO extension ever made, period. The new world to discover is amazing, the story is amazing, the soundtrack is amazing and the updated battle system is amazing. We will only complain about one thing: please Square Enix, fix the way characters are animated during cutscenes because it is painful to watch in 2019.

9 / 10 - Overwatch
May 26, 2016

Overwatch is a multiplayer FPS that has everything to please: a colorful and neat artistic direction, a universe and endearing characters, simple but extremely effective gameplay... This whole thing, combined with the regular updates to come, allows Blizzard to offer us nothing less than one of the great contenders for the title of best game of 2016.

Ys VIII proves once again that 2016 is the year of J-RPG. Not only does it offer solid RPG elements and dynamic combat sessions, it also does a very good job at making us discover the Siren Island and care for our heroes. And with its excellent graphics (especially for the Vita version) and this very good soundtrack, all that makes it one of the best game of this summer 2016. A great J-RPG to play on the go !

8 / 10 - DJMAX RESPECT
Jan 23, 2018

Press X to pay your respect to one of the greatest, if not the best, rhythm game on PS4. The DJ Max series is back with more than 140 tunes to rock your living room. The only thing that can be bothering is the use of analog sticks during a few tracks, but who cares when you are having such a blast 99% of the time? If you like (very) good rhythm game and music, this one is a must-have.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is not the game you were expecing and that's okay. It is a painfully restrictive and tough title that punishes you for every single mistake you make - which is not exactly what Monster Hunter World does. However it is also an amazingly rewarding game which will make your heart beat twice as fast everytime that you will land a successful hit on a G rank Rathalos. Best enjoyed with friends, this is the game you want to get to the next level of hunting.

8 / 10 - Judgment
Feb 15, 2019

Judge Eyes / Judgement is a very nice gift from the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Even though it may feel at first like it is only a skin based on previous Yakuza games, it feels fresh enough and brings in brand new ideas that make for a great gaming experience. We would have simply liked that its characters spent less time talking and more time kicking asses, this is where they truly shine!

Yo-Kai Watch 2 is far from being a bad game: its storyline is pretty entertaining and rather funny if you are fine with comedies made for 10 years old kids. However, the gameplay mechanics are not as good as we are used to with Pokemon games, especially the fighting mechanics, which become quickly boring.

I have a weird love-hate relationship with Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. At times, its nostalgic, its nicely written story and its unique design just blows me away but at other times, I simply hate its poorly designed interfaced, its lack of innovation and the simple fact that it never dares to try anything new. When it does something, it does it perfectly, but it simply doesn't feel enough in 2017. It plays it way too safe for its own good.

Persona 3 Dancing Moon Night had everything to be a great game, but sadly weird decision made by Atlus such as the lack of a proper solo mode, the addition of a lot of non-remixed tracks hurt the overall experience. Why tone down on the "Electro/Dancing" feeling that the first instalment had ? That's a shame since the few remixes left are actually pretty good. Still a nice experience, but not as fullfiling as the first game.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is not up to the task. We all wished it was better than that. It simply does not work as a 3v3 team-based fighting game. The only thing it does well is the fan service, and it does it very well.

Well, why did Sega decides to port Shining Resonance to our European consoles instead of Valkyria Chronicles or Phantasy Star Online 2, no one will ever know. However, what we do know is that Shining Resonance is your average J-RPG with your average team of anime-looking main protagonists fighting with the power of songs and friendship. An enjoyable but quite forgettable experience.

Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time is the video game adaptation you were not expecting and won't care about if you are not an hardcore fan of the anime. The game is a weird mix between an old-school 2D side-scrolling and a PS2 era RPG but does not stand out in any of the genre it tries to tackle. However, only once you forget about the core gameplay and simply wander around the aisle of the Academia speaking with Akko's little friends, then you can really start enjoying Chamber of Time. Not for what it is, but for what it is not : a visual novel set within the world of Little Witch Academia starring the cutest hero of all time, Akko!

Valkyria Azure Revolution is the spin-off no one was waiting for. Every component which made the Valkyria Chronicles saga so famous is absent from this bad "sequel". The graphics look awful on PS4, the casting is generic at best and its action-rpg mechanics are one of the worst we've ever seen in the last decade. Why would an Action-RPG make you pause the game every time you want to use a skill ? Why, SEGA ?

Nothing to see here. You'll be better off playing some more Dragon Ball FighterZ or watching the anime on Netflix.
