Bowser's Minions were not the reinforcements expected for Mario & Luigi, but such pugnacious tactical digression strengthens the hilarious narrative as well as the whole adventure, while the astonishing amount of content and gameplay improvements make this completely overhauled Superstar Saga even more shining.

Beyond an assumed classicism, Etrian Odyssey V refocuses on the Yggdrasil labyrinth, adding space and depth to exploration. Hence this episode gives more relevance to each decision, each combat, which boldly asserts its mythical role playing heritage through such refined formula.

"The sooner the better" This may apply to Pok'mon Ultra-Sun and Ultra-Moon in many ways. While fresh memories from the previous episodes help to notice the small, delicate differences, with clever twists aimed at Alola's returning vacationers, the main story transformations happen rather late. Similarly, the additions are mostly interesting, even captivating, but they often lack more development to express their full potential, and overall flaws were not really addressed, in particular tedious pace and inconsistent challenge. However, the generous amount of commemorative - not to say recycled - content suggests Game Freak tried to reach some closure there, broken rules like the introduction of new species during this generation hinting that the series might seriously evolve in the future. Better late than never...

A morbidly amusing narrative in the background of a facetious universe, along with hilarious characters and their puzzling torments, Flipping Death undoubtedly transpires coherence as an adventure game, proving that the genre still belongs to the world of the livings.

Despite some original minigames and clever boss battles, the story mode falls short, since it strictly serves to teach the new gameplay mechanics. Mario Tennis Aces introduces "zone" tricks that prove both spectacular and powerful, offensively as well as defensively, thus creating a singular, radical timing approach to tennis, yet rather adequate for such competitive ambitions online. However, more risks should have been taken, particularly through the evolution of the double tap system in order to play closer to the lines, and increase the errors potential, which would add not only consistency, but also authenticity. Therefore this episode reaffirms the series' legendary accessibility underlined by the discrete motion mode ' la Wii Sports, a classical ace of conviviality on the whole from Camelot.

Far from a simple 3D "remodelization" for a more powerful, yet still portable home system, Pok'mon : Let's Go not only refreshes the series' very first adventure, but also reflects the long journey since then, by wisely integrating evolutions such as Pokemon Go's capture system or partners in order to improve the modernity, accessibility and conviviality of the formula. A fantastic way to (re)start Pok'mon, and a glorious conclusion for Junichi Masuda as director.

Through a less intimidating world, a cosier, jazzy atmosphere and an even more dynamic combat system, Torna : The Golden Country reveals not only an archaic chapter from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but also a fundamental pillar of the series as a whole. While the adventure never quite reaches the density of a full installment, the focus on human relations drives the narrative across uncharted emotional territories, making this standalone expansion a fantastic introduction to this universe, and an unmissable opportunity to explore Alrest deeper.

Thanks to some sweet, though slightly too light additions - Peachette in particular - New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is really for everyone now.

The pursuit of Nathan's adventures in the USA could have been a simple pretext to explore this new world haunted by undiscovered Yo-kai, through a humorous, if not satiric tone about cultural specificities. But Level-5 generously went further by improving the tactical side of the combat system, more dynamic as a whole, while expanding the activities considerably, and above all, by telling a parallel story from an investigative point of view, so these two destinies make an even more moving fable once united. Beyond its usual youthful collection spirit, Yo-kai Watch 3 thus encourages to widen contacts and befriend other people, an astoundingly vivacious, yet admirable humanistic mission for a series inspired by traditional japanese ghosts.

Through powerfully puzzling ideas and a quite distinct cooperative, then extended adventure, HAL Laboratory drew inspiration from romanticism to turn Boxboy into a joyful bloc party with Boxgirl, showing that it gets even better together.

While Ni no Kuni : Wrath of the White Witch remains intact, and thus only gains mobility on Nintendo Switch, the PS4 and PC versions reveal subtle visual details from this truly magical piece of art. A great, classic JRPG, in every sense of the words, hereby presented through its ultimate rendition.

Paladin Studios highlights that work can be a comical and exhilarating experience - even more through collaboration - with such cleverly used tools to manage somehow complicated, if not explosive situations. Despite the deliberate lack of character, it's indeed a Good Job !

Like previous Clubhouse Games, the title of 51 Worldwide Games says a lot. Its sobriety hides true gems, transposed in virtual form with so much care that they would almost supplant reality. A tremendous homage to the games' roots and diversity, which everybody around the world can enjoy anywhere, anytime, whether solo, with friends or online partners, depending on the moment's aspirations. While this collection ups the ante on action, odds still favor classics, and Nintendo even draws few ambitious experiences gathered in this chest full of treasures, decidedly made to last, and play.

Admittedly it is rather a reinvention than a creation, but WayForward focused on the fundamentals of the saga, with the construction of a world in trees as massive as complex.

Like an orchestral (Platinum) score, The Wonderful 101 requests some deciphering first and many repetitions - as this slightly Remastered rendition show - to be assimilated. Only then, pleasure kicks in, while revealing its grandeur. Such jubilation leads to forgive, if not forget all the rambling through this delirious, overactive and genuinely unique work of Hideki Kamiya, still destined for the rare "happy viewtiful".

Beyond the improved visuals and supplementary customization options, the additional member of the team played by the horse proves the main evolution of Grezzo's port, which makes the adventure even more pleasant for young audience, while RPG veterans may surely appreciate such irony, too reminiscent of the 3DS version though.

Behind the humorous, colorful atmosphere, Game Builder Garage proves a real creation environment, with a phenomenally intuitive interface and a clever didactic approach to such a huge amount of possibilities, using almost every function of the system. But Nintendo also made delicate compromises between simplicity and ambition through technical or sharing limitations, hence production will heavily rely on Nodon game designers' efforts.
