Let's face the elephant in the room: Planescape Torment this is not. Still, we're talking about a very deep and rewarding CRPG that borrows some mechanics and game design choices from its famous ancestor and tries to walk a different path, making the player read and dialogue instead of mindlessly fighting. A good pick for old time D&D players, but the crown is still held by Pillars of Eternity.

7.5 / 10.0 - Ys Origin
Mar 4, 2017

Ys Origin is a good throwback to a time when action RPG were much simpler than they are today, but also a reminder that simple gameplay can be enjoyable and fun even ten or more hours later. The only downsides are a short length and a lack of variety, but this is nonetheless recommended to Adol Christin fans.

Super Bomberman R is far too pricey for what it offers, especially considering that the online multiplayer suffered from lag issues during our tests. This is still a decent Bomberman game, a decent launch game and a very good multiplayer game, but it is neither as appealing if played alone nor one of the best games in the long lasting franchise.

Mario Sports Superstars won't wow any 3DS fan, since a lot of the content is recycled from other franchises and other 3DS games (such as Mario Golf World Tour e Mario Tennis Open), but, taken for what it is, a nice collection of very good sport-inspired minigames, can grant several hours of fun to both veterans and newcomers.

For the ones who don't own a Vita (and, unfortunately, there's a lot of them), Danganronpa 1-2 Reload is a great chance to experience two of the best visual novels around at a bargain price. But for the ones that already played them , this PS4 package doesn't bring anything new to the table.

8 / 10.0 - I Am Setsuna
Mar 17, 2017

It's disappointing to see nothing new in the Switch version of I am Setsuna, but we're still talking about a very good JRPG and the only offering right now for all the Nintendo fans on their new console. A recommended choice if you didn't get to play it elsewhere.

7 / 10.0 - Kona
Mar 19, 2017

We enjoyed our time with Kona Day One, even if the survival and combat elements often give the idea of being thrown into the mix without too much thought. When the game does what it's best at, which means telling a story, can make you forget about technical hiccups and a lackluster finale. A good beginning for a new series we're curious to see unravel.

8 / 10.0 - Toukiden 2
Mar 22, 2017

Toukiden 2 is both a solid hunting game and a vast open world, and even if it cannot match the ones from the AAA games seen recently (from Horizon to Breath of the Wild), it has more than enough juice to keep fan busy for at least a couple of weeks. If you liked the previous titles, you'll find much mor of the same here and a couple of new twists that add to the gameplay.

7.5 / 10.0 - Yo-Kai Watch 2
Mar 31, 2017

Yo-kai Watch 2 is an iterative sequel that plays too safe too often, but, taken for what it is, also delivers a solid JRPG experience, enriched by almost twohundreds new Yo-kai, online battles and new areas to explore. Your enjoyment of the first game and of the anime really is a factor here.

Although Zero Time Dilemma is nowhere to be found and there's no extra whatsoever, Zero Escape The Nonary Games is a great package containing two brilliant visual novels. If, for any reason, you didn't have a chance to play them (or just one of them), then buying it is heavily recommended, expecially for the treatment that 999 has undergone.

Vikings Wolves of Midgard is a passable Diablo clone, full of fresh ideas for the genre, none of which really fits into the gameplay, let down by repetition and peculiar game design choices. There are far better similar games on Xbox One, and it's very hard to recommend this one over Diablo III, Bastion or Hyper Light Drifter.

5.5 / 10.0 - Has Been Heroes
Apr 13, 2017

Without narrative hooks, valuable prizes and more diverse in-game situations, Has been heroes overstays its welcome after just a couple of hours, also let down by horrible difficulty spikes and an unfairly procedurally generated maps. Try it again, Frozenbyte.

A rose in the twilight is a delicious niche puzzle platformer, with a just right difficulty curve, a heartbreaking story and a bleak and fascinating visual style. This alone should be enough for Vita owners, hungry for new games, but beware: it's not a game for everyone, slow and difficult as it is. We loved our time with it nonetheless.

7.5 / 10.0 - The Silver Case
Apr 21, 2017

It's somehow hard to recommend The Silver Case to a younger audience, not accustomed with an "old" game: the interface and controls are quite clunky, and the graphics are stylish but not good. However, fans of the visual novel genere will find a lot to love here.

8.5 / 10.0 - Puyo Puyo Tetris
Apr 25, 2017

Puyo Puyo Tetris on the Nintendo Switch is an absolute must buy for all the gamers who like puzzle game and/or great titles to play in local multiplayer. It is fast, colourful, fun and has a ton of different game modes, and really fits perfectly on Nintendo's new hardware.

World to the West is the better game made by the people at Rain Games so far. It has a distinctive style, a sprawling map helped by a great level design and a successful mix of exploration, puzzles and combat.

Fire Emblem Echoes doesn't make a strong first impression, but keeps entangling the player fight after fight, for each hard-earned victory. It also brings to the table many ideas from the original title, and a slew of fresh air in a series that has seen four games in the last four years.

6 / 10.0 - Akiba's Beat
May 18, 2017

Akiba's Beat is a generic, me-too JRPG that takes inspiration from both the Persona and the Tales of series, without adding any new ideas, failing to recapture the feeling and gameplay of both of them. Still, it can be a solid choice fo the uninitiated to the genre.

There's not enough new content to recommend a second buy for the ones that have already played it on PS4, but Disgaea 5 Complete remains the best option, right now, for all the Switch owners who love their strategy games.
