The Nintendo Switch version of Mario Kart is quite possibly the best in the series. Mario Kart 8 was already fantastic on the Wii U and the way the game uses the Switch's features genuinely transcends it.

Have we ever seen such a cutting sequel ? Seven years after the first episode, The Last of Us Part II is a true masterpiece, at every level : not only has Naughty Dog released a bigger, richer, longer and darker adventure, but its surprising story plays wickedly with the fans hopes, and question the very nature of roles, and what humanity should stand for. If only more AAA games could chosse for such strong choices despite the consequences, the media would surely be more interesting. Released at the very end of the PlayStation 4 cycle, The Last of Us Part II feels like the definitive synthesis of this generation.

Gorogoa is a very subtile and brilliantly innovative visual experience that will let your wide wide open long after its conclusion, thanks to a clever structure from start to finish. Jason Roberts' first game choose to mute this narrative puzzle tale, only to focus on strong visuals that navigates somewhere between surrealism and melancholy. Gorogoa may be quick to finish, but a second run seems clearly mandatory once you saw the ending. Too bad that all the available versions of the game display such different prices.

Cuphead is a brilliant hommage to the run and gun genre as much as the 30's cartoons. This retro experience is a though challenge that will reveeal its true potential only to those brave enough to endure thousands of death by the minute. Cuphead is not accessible to everyone, and it is fine like this. Beautiful and diversified like any other, Cuphead is such a rewarding game that reminds us the true taste of victory.

Celeste is an amazing game in every aspect. This hardcore platformer combines a solid gameplay, a strong psychological plot, staged by a brilliant pixel art direction and a fantastic soundtrack. The game is so generous and challenging, but still manages to gives newcomers a chance, even though you might miss the entire point by skipping some parts with the assist mode. You have every reason to play Celeste. Period.

With Metroid Dread, Mercury Steam brings the series back to its roots by delivering a strong, dense and cleverly designed 2D episode, Thanks to its though but balanced curve, Samus keeps getting stronger and more able to decipher many puzzles and fight interesting bosses, only to appear vulnerable when escaping the new EMMI robots. The adventure sure is classic, but all the elements are here pushed to their limits, for the better. What a ride.

Four years after its original release, Valiant Hearts celebrates the centenary of the Armistice with this Switch release. Team Cherry's Hollow Knight avoid all the traps of the Kickstarter project : with its strong artistic direction, the game offers a deep adventure, but only to those strong enough to get through the cryptic beginning of the game. If you feel like trying your best, Hollow Knight, will deliver memorable memories, thanks to its wonderful environments and very intelligent soundtrack. Too bad many players will quit before seeing it.

Blossom Tales achieves with flying colors a synthesis of what used to make a 2D Zelda a great game, while adding enough ideas to satisfy the old-school fanatics. Thanks to a charming art direction, Castle Pixel's second game will please most of nostalgic gamers. But such reverence to the original Zelda series will not come along with many surprises, even with such a short length.
